Hi, I’m Jon. I’m a candle maker in the west Chicagoland area. I’ve been making candles under the name VANDAL CANDLE CO. since 2018.

I focus on outdoorsy / woodsy / smoky scents, making candles in classic glass jars, hockey puck tins, and upcycled b**r cans.

I couldn’t pass up a b**r with Ozzy on it. Soundgrowler has the best labels!

🔥 Smoky Birch

This candle blends birch tree forest scents with elements of smoke. It feels like you’re stepping into a 1920’s speakeasy in the heart of the Northwoods.

I’m always amazed by how many different styles of b**r Pollyanna is able to make extremely well. This English Pub Ale makes me want to listen to The Clash and talk about how many great bands have come out of England.

🔥 Smoky Birch

The scent of a birch tree has a way of taking you back to a time and place. This blend leans into the smokiness of birch by adding smoke element to the scent of birch trees in a dense forest.

I had not heard of Brothership Brewing before picking up a 4-pack of Area 5.1, which sold me on the name alone, and I’m happy I found this b**r. Great German-style pilsner!

🔥 Hinoki Bonfires

This is a Japanese cypress tree scent mixed with smoky embers of a bonfire.

I always used to criticize micro-breweries of not being able to produce great la**rs, and then a few years ago I tried Goldfinger. They’re the first local Chicagoland craft brewery to make me eat my words. Their la**rs are great! Goldfinger Pils is in my year round rotation.

🔥 Barbershop

This is a limited, small batch scent. I don’t even remember what exact fragrance mix I used but it smells like a barbershop. Burn ‘em while they last.
