$303 vs. $4,100-$9000 😮‍💨

That DIY price sounds incredible when cost compared to the contractors cost. But factoring in the amount of labor needed for big projects like these and choosing whether or not you want to handle all of that is going to be a determing factor on how you approach your projects. Our biggest piece of advice: do the research!

As promised, here is the breakdown of cost of this particular project. For reference, Kelly’s shower is 105 sq. ft. and she lives in the North Shore of Chicago.

- Grout float $10
- Grout $36
- Grout removal hand tool $9
- Diamond blades for saw x3 $13
- Scraper $4
- Utility knife $ 6
- Caulk gun $13
- Custom color silicone caulk $15
- Clear silicone caulk $10
- Oscillating saw with battery $150
- PPE $10
TOTAL: approx. $300

Cost to re-tile:
DIY: $700-$1000 (or more if you uncover issues)
Contractor: $2300-$3000
