Visiting Cosentino’s headquarters in Cantoria, Spain, gave me the opportunity to see beyond the finished product to understand the research, technology, engineering, and craftsmanship behind the materials we specify.

Some begin with natural stone. Others are developed through highly advanced manufacturing and new technologies that continue to expand what materials can do in architecture and design.

But beyond the innovation, what stayed with me just as much were the people behind it.

For me, sourcing is never simply about selecting something beautiful. It is about understanding how a material is made, what it can do, how it can be used more intelligently and building relationships with the people whose knowledge and innovation bring it to life.

Grateful to the Cosentino team for the hospitality, generosity, and for giving me a deeper look into the thinking behind the product.

I’m always listening for what a work is trying to say beyond form.

Richard MacDonald’s sculpture speaks in the language of devotion, to discipline, to anatomy, to the quiet rigor behind beauty. His figures are born from an almost monastic respect for the human body, where every curve is considered, every tension intentional. You feel the hours, the years, the refusal to rush.

What moves me most is the restraint. The strength comes not from force, but from control. Motion is captured at its most vulnerable pause the moment just before release. That is where the emotion lives.

I think often about this same balance: precision and poetry, structure and surrender. MacDonald’s sculptures are a reminder that mastery is not loud. It is patient. It is exacting. And it leaves space for the viewer to meet the work halfway.

This is art shaped by reverence for craft, for the human form, for stillness itself.

Transitional. Modern. Effortlessly Grounded.

This open-concept living room is a study in contrast and restraint—where structured architecture meets soft, organic layering. Smoked oak, stone, and textural textiles anchor the space, while sculptural lighting and curved silhouettes introduce warmth and movement.

Defined zones preserve flow without fragmentation, creating a living environment that feels intuitive, quiet, and editorial—tailored for real life with design discipline.

Quiet luxury isn’t loud. It’s intentional.

A Design Hunter’s Discovery: Artesanos Don Bosco

After decades of sourcing pieces from Milan to France, I stumbled upon something extraordinary in Peru, Lima’s bohemian Barranco district. Tucked inside a restored colonial palace , Artesanos Don Bosco represents that rare fusion every designer dreams of finding.

The Magic: Italian sophistication meets raw Andean soul. Each piece is hand-carved using centuries-old tongue-and-groove techniques by artisans who’ve mastered their craft through a rigorous 5-year apprenticeship program .

Fun Facts That Hooked Me:

- They’ve furnished Belmond Hotel Cusco and the acclaimed Kjolle restaurant
- Custom work available – I’ve seen designers commission everything from boardroom tables to boutique hotel lobbies
- The showroom itself is an Instagram-worthy backdrop in a meticulously restored palace
- Works with premium materials: solid wood, marble, stone, glass, and metals

Designer’s Truth: Visitors rave about pieces being “pure design and good taste” . In an era of mass production, finding authentic craftsmanship with this level of storytelling is pure gold.

Every piece carries provenance money can’t buy – supporting indigenous artisans while delivering museum-quality furniture. For fellow design hunters, this isn’t just shopping; it’s discovering the next chapter of Latin American design excellence.

The Spot: Av. San Martin 135, Barranco.

The Evolution of Space: The Five Interior Design Principles Reshaping 2025

In the wake of global upheaval, our relationship with interior environments has fundamentally transformed. At Marie Antonette Designs, we're witnessing a profound shift toward spaces that actively nurture psychological well-being rather than merely containing activity. The pandemic accelerated our evolution toward warmer, emotionally resonant palettes and dedicated sanctuary spaces, while emerging neurocognitive research now validates what designers have intuitively understood: our environments directly shape cognitive function and emotional resilience.

As we move through 2025, several distinctive directions define our approach: a thoughtful Maximalist Renaissance that creates emotionally responsive environments through intentional layering; Material Continuity techniques that extend single materials throughout spaces for sensory cohesion; and a continued dissolution of traditional boundaries between indoors and outdoors. These aren't merely aesthetic choices but responses to deeper human needs—creating environments that don't just look beautiful but actively enhance how we live, work, and connect. https://www.marieantonettedesigns.com/design-blog/the-evolution-of-space-the-five-interior-design-principles-reshaping-2025
