That’s a wrap on our U-Pick Flower Season! 🌸

As we close our flower fields for the season, we’re feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who came through our gates and shared in the love of flowers with us. 💐

Flowers have a beautiful way of becoming part of life’s most special moments. From bridal showers, birthdays, and weddings to everyday celebrations and simple moments at home. We’ve loved being a small part of so many of your memories. 🤍

And before we close the fields, we harvested the last bits of fresh flowers and have them hanging in the shop to dry! 🌾✨ We are open all four seasons and these beautiful blooms will be available for fall and winter decorating, so you can take a little piece of this season home with you.

🌱 Cover crops feed the soil—which in turn nourishes us.
🌱 Agriculture is a delicate balance. 🌱 When we plant our gardens we take from the soil, we maintain it by adding energy, but how we choose to add that energy matters:
☠️ The synthetic approach: Relying on petroleum derived inputs herbicides, pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers until living soil turns into lifeless dirt. It requires ever-increasing inputs for ever-decreasing returns.
🌱 The living approach: Feeding the soil system with sustainable energy through organic amendments and cover crops.

My houseplant journey began almost twenty years ago with a single dragonfruit cactus grown from seed. Like so many others, my love of them grew during the pandemic. Having plants to nurture and watch flourish brought a rewarding sense of peace. It also allowed a small degree of control as the world outside was on fire. My leafy friends became less of a hobby and more of a salvation, providing a positive boost to my headspace in those trying times.
Plants are far more than mere decoration. In addition to providing an aesthetic element to the surroundings, they also purify the air and, dare I say, bring companionship. Plants are living beings too so it’s natural to gain fondness and show affection towards them. Personally I sing to mine! Studies have shown that plants respond positively to music and, in fact, prefer classical and jazz. Landlord says no pets? No problem! They could never deny you the partnership of a plant pal.
Most importantly, they give us a chance to bring the outside indoors and having them in our space serves as a reminder that we are still part of the natural world.
That being said, I’m pleased to announce my passion project, the houseplant section at wildwood flora. ~Graham
