Five retaining walls. One complete front yard transformation. 🧱

We wrapped up this project in Northern Kentucky, where the homeowner wanted to completely clean up the front of the property while also solving some functional issues.

We installed five retaining walls, completed new concrete sidewalk work, added landscaping, corrected the grading, and installed multiple drainage solutions to properly manage water throughout the property.

The goal wasn’t just to make it look better—it was to make the entire front yard function better, too.

How to Build Retaining Walls With VERY Aggressive Curves 🧱

Aggressive curves make retaining walls a completely different animal.

In this video, we break down how we build tight curves the right way—from strategically laying out each course and cutting individual blocks to get the proper fit, to making sure the geogrid placement is exactly where it needs to be.

The tighter the curve, the less room there is for error. Small mistakes at the bottom can turn into major problems as the wall gets taller, so every course has to be planned ahead.

Another retaining wall project wrapped up — and this one turned out really nice.

The homeowner needed an existing retaining wall replaced, but there was one big challenge: space.

This was an extremely tight area to work in, with limited access between the home, landscaping, pool equipment, and surrounding structures. Jobs like this take a little more planning and a lot more attention to detail — but tight access doesn’t stop us.

We removed the old wall, prepared the area properly, and rebuilt it to give the customer a clean, strong retaining wall that fits the property perfectly.

Big backyard or tight side yard — we’ll figure out how to get it done. 💪

🚨 THIS CUSTOMER HAD TO PAY FOR THEIR RETAINING WALL TWICE.

Another contractor built this wall before us.

It failed.

By the time we got here, there was no shortcut fix. The wall had to be rebuilt correctly, which meant more excavation, new material, new block, proper drainage, and doing the job the way it should’ve been done from the beginning.

🚨 This is what happens when a paver patio isn’t installed properly.

At first glance, you might just see pavers that have shifted around.

But look closer and this patio has become an actual safety hazard — uneven pavers, major movement, and areas you can easily trip over.

So what went wrong?

We found approximately 7 INCHES OF SAND underneath these pavers. 😳

And that’s exactly why I always tell homeowners: when you’re hiring someone to install a paver patio, don’t just ask what paver they’re using or how good the finished product is going to look.

Ask what’s going underneath it.

The part you’ll never see once the project is finished is arguably the most important part of the entire installation.

Proper excavation.
Proper base.
Proper compaction.
Proper drainage.
Proper installation.

Sometimes spending a little more upfront to hire a contractor who knows what they’re doing can save you from paying for the entire project twice.

A paver patio should look great — but more importantly, it should be built to last.
