Host Thanksgiving Without the Annual Scramble

If you host Thanksgiving, you know the scramble. Serving dishes stacked on the counter, tablecloths folded over a chair, the good china in a box in the basement because there's nowhere else for it.

A built-in buffet or dining room storage cabinet ends that. We design and build custom built-ins sized to your wall, with a place for the serving pieces, a drawer for the linens, and cabinet storage that matches the rest of your home instead of looking like a piece of furniture you settled for.

Good storage doesn't just hold things. It makes the whole day feel calmer.

If your dining room is still working against you, October is a good time to start planning. See what we build at serenitycustomwoodworking.com/custom-built-ins-des-moines/

A Kitchen That's Ready Before the First Cookie Gets Baked

The holidays have a way of exposing every weak spot in a kitchen. Suddenly you're digging past four rarely used appliances to find the stand mixer, and the sheet pans have taken over the counter because there's nowhere else to put them.

Custom cabinetry fixes that at the source. We build kitchen cabinets to the exact dimensions of your kitchen, including custom pantries, islands, and specialty storage, with full-extension drawer slides and soft-close hinges so everything has a home and slides out instead of toppling over. You're never limited to stock sizes or someone else's layout.

If your kitchen has you fighting the layout instead of enjoying the season, it might be time to plan something better. See what's possible at serenitycustomwoodworking.com/custom-kitchen-cabinets-des-moines/

Every Kid Gets a Spot, the Floor Gets a Break

You know that pile. Cleats by the door, a helmet on the bench nobody can sit on, three backpacks hanging off one hook that was never meant to hold three backpacks. Fall sports season turns an entryway into a sporting goods store.

Custom mudroom cabinetry is the fix. We build lockers and benches sized to your wall, with individual compartments so each person in the house has a spot that's actually theirs. Shoe storage, coat storage, a drop zone for bags and gear, and durable finishes built for the traffic a mudroom takes in an Iowa winter.

If your entryway is losing the battle against fall gear, see what we build at serenitycustomwoodworking.com/mudroom-laundry-room-cabinets-des-moines/ and give Travis a call to start planning.

The Corner That Never Figured Out What It Wanted to Be

You know the one. The corner in the spare bedroom where boxes go to be forgotten. Holiday bins, old textbooks, the donate pile that never made it to the car.

That's exactly the kind of space a built-in is for. We design and build home office cabinetry, wall-to-wall shelving, and bookcases sized to your walls and your ceiling, so the piece looks like it was always part of the house instead of furniture pushed into a corner. Adjustable shelves, soft-close hinges, and full-extension drawers where they make sense.

If you've got a corner like that, it's closer to a real workspace than you think. Take a look at what we build at serenitycustomwoodworking.com/custom-built-ins-des-moines/

We're thinking about spinning off a new division for Custom Ark Construction. ChatGPT says it could be a popular service in Iowa right now 🤣 ☔️ Who's in?

Want New Cabinets Before the Holidays? Here's How the Timeline Actually Works

Most people assume a custom cabinet project takes forever to get started. Honestly, it's more straightforward than you'd think, but fall moves fast in Iowa, and so does the calendar.

From your first conversation with Travis to a finished install, a typical project runs somewhere in the eight to twelve week range. That means if Thanksgiving or Christmas is your target, the window to start planning is pretty much right now. Not next month. Now.

The good news is that first step couldn't be easier, just a phone call to talk through what you're thinking. No pressure, no big commitment. Just a real conversation about your kitchen, mudroom, or built-ins and what you actually need out of the space. Thanksgiving Is Closer Than It Feels

One Central Iowa family decided this was the year their kitchen would finally keep up with the crowd. They added a custom island with built-in storage, and the difference was immediate: more prep space, a real landing zone for groceries and backpacks, and a place where people could gather without getting in the way of whoever was stirring the gravy.

If your kitchen feels like it's working against you every time the family piles in, a custom island might be exactly what changes that. We'd love to help you figure out what works for your space before the holidays get here.

Every Kid Gets a Spot, and the Floor Gets a Break

You know the scene. Backpacks dropped right inside the door, cleats kicked off on the step, three coats fighting over the same doorknob. Fall sports season has a way of turning your entryway into an obstacle course overnight.

A built-in bench and cubby system gives every family member their own dedicated spot, hooks, a shelf, maybe a drawer for the stuff that always goes missing. When everyone knows exactly where their things live, they actually put them there. It sounds simple because it is, and the difference it makes in a busy morning is hard to overstate.

If you're in the Des Moines area and ready to get your entryway sorted before the real chaos of fall sets in, check out what we do at serenitycustomwoodworking.com/mudroom-laundry-room-cabinets-des-moines/ and then give Travis a call.

That Blank Wall Had Been Bothering Them for Years

You know the one. The big bare wall in the living room that you've walked past a hundred times, telling yourself you'll figure it out eventually. Our clients in Waukee finally did something about it, and the result stopped us in our tracks.

Floor-to-ceiling built-in shelving, built right into the room, turned that forgotten wall into the first thing you notice when you walk through the front door. It's functional, it's personal, and it looks like it was always meant to be there.

If you've got a wall like that sitting empty in your home, we'd love to talk through what's possible. See more of what we build at serenitycustomwoodworking.com/custom-built-ins-des-moines/ or give Travis a call if you're ready to start planning.
