Hello Colorado Springs locals! We will be at the McAlister Museum in downtown Colorado Springs from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for the Harvest Festival. Swing by and say hello, we'd love to meet you!

There is nothing quite like local businesses having a little fun! I dropped by Phelan Gardens (one of our retail locations) here in Colorado Springs and had to share their incredible departmental scarecrow competition.

Instead of your traditional straw-and-old-clothes look, the team really broke the mold. Walking through, you'll spot:

🐝 The Pollinator Protector (saving the garden in style!)

🗿 Tiki Tom (bringing tropical autumn vibes)

🌲 Juniper Jack (a true evergreen classic)

🧺 Jack and Jill (the ultimate classic duo)

It’s such a fun reminder of how creative our local community is. If you could vote for a winner, which department would get your vote?

Fall is officially in full swing at Blue Pumpkin Seed Co.! 🍂 We wanted to share a little peek at our recent adventures to inspire you to look for local fall events in your area.

My twin sister and I recently attended a fall cookie decorating class, and it was such a blast. We were greeted with delicious baked goods and fresh coffee, then guided step-by-step through decorating adorable fall-shaped shortbread cookies. (Though, I must admit, I got impatient and went completely rogue! 😅)

If you're looking for fun ways to embrace the season, there is so much happening locally this time of year! Aside from cookie decorating, keep an eye out for:

Fall and Halloween charcuterie board classes

Pumpkin and Jack-O'-Lantern festivals

Classic corn mazes and local farm visits

Seasonal w**e tastings

Pumpkin Patches

Haunted house attractions and more!

We hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the autumn season. A huge thank you to everyone who has been sharing your pumpkin photos with us lately—seeing our customers' growing success always makes our day! 🎃

Hello everyone! We're excited to let everyone know bushel gourd (bushel basket gourd) seeds are back in stock!

For those new to the bushel basket gourd, the Bushel Gourd is a massive, vigorous vining plant prized by gardeners for producing giant, round, hard-shelled fruits. True to its name, this heirloom variety grows large enough to rival the volume of a traditional bushel basket.

While average mature specimens typically measure between 12 to 18 inches in diameter and weigh anywhere from 30 to 60 pounds, exceptional plants grown in rich soil with plenty of room can stretch up to 3 feet across and tip the scales at an astonishing 100 pounds. Once harvested and properly cured, their thick, durable wooden shells have historically been used to craft heavy-duty storage containers, baskets, and bowls!

Fall came early, and we’re not complaining! 🍂🎃

We spent the weekend getting into the spooky spirit at our favorite haunted house attraction right here in Westminster, CO. A haunted house attraction, coffin rides, escape rooms, zombie smash—it had a little bit of everything to kick off the season.

If your local, give this haunt a try! They work hard in the off season to change things up and create a new experience every year.

Whether you’re harvesting your garden veggies, picking pumpkins, or hunting down local scares, hope you’re enjoying the autumn magic. If you have a local haunt in your town, definitely go show them some love this month! 👻✨

Get ready to go nuts! 🥜 National Peanut Day is coming up on September 13th, and it’s the perfect excuse to celebrate everyone’s favorite legume.

Whether you’re a fan of crunchy, creamy, roasted, or boiled, there are so many ways to honor the mighty peanut. Here are a few fun ways you can join in on the celebration:

Get snacking: Keep it classic and crack open a bag of roasted peanuts in the shell for a timeless, healthy snack.

Get creative in the kitchen: Whip up a batch of peanut butter cookies, toss together a savory Thai peanut noodle salad, or blend up a creamy peanut butter banana smoothie.

Host a taste test: Grab a few different varieties or brands and host a blind taste test with friends to find the ultimate peanut butter champion.

Movie night: Pop some popcorn and drizzle it with melted peanut butter for the perfect salty-sweet treat while you watch your favorite flick.

Treat your pup: If you have a furry friend, treat them to a peanut butter-filled toy (just make sure your peanut butter is xylitol-free!).

How are you planning to celebrate? Let me know your favorite way to eat peanuts in the comments! 👇

September is officially National Fruits and Veggies Month! 🍎🥦 It’s the perfect time to celebrate the vibrant colors, incredible flavors, and essential nutrients that fuel our bodies.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just looking to refresh your kitchen routine, here are a few simple ways to join the celebration all month long:

Visit a Local Farmer’s Market: Nothing beats the taste of seasonal produce. Supporting local growers is a great way to discover new varieties—and you might even find something unique to add to your plate.

Try One New Thing a Week: Make it a goal to buy one fruit or vegetable you’ve never cooked with before. From hearty squashes to exotic herbs, exploring new ingredients keeps cooking exciting.

The "Add, Don't Subtract" Rule: Instead of focusing on what to cut out, think about what you can add. Toss a handful of spinach into your morning smoothie, roast a medley of root veggies for dinner, or snack on fresh fruit instead of processed alternatives.

Get Creative with Prep: If you’re feeling uninspired, look into different cooking methods. Roasting brings out the natural sweetness in carrots and beets, while quick-pickling is a fantastic way to preserve the crunch of late-summer produce.

How are you packing more plants into your meals this month? Share your favorite seasonal recipes or market finds in the comments below! 👇

Happy National Honey Bee Day! 🐝🌻Today, August 15th, we’re buzzing with appreciation for the incredible work our honey bee friends do for our gardens, our crops, and our ecosystem. These tiny pollinators are essential to the food we eat and the beauty we enjoy every day. Want to help support and protect your local bee population? Here are a few simple ways you can make a difference in your own backyard:Plant Pollen-Heavy Blooms: Providing a reliable food source is one of the best things you can do. Our Honey Bee Wildflower Mix is specially curated with high-pollen flowers that bees absolutely love, giving them the nutrients they need to thrive. Provide a Water Source: Bees get thirsty! A shallow dish filled with fresh water and a few stones or pebbles—so they have a safe place to land—is a perfect way to keep them hydrated. Go Pesticide-Free: Try to avoid using harsh chemicals in your garden. If you must use treatments, opt for organic, natural alternatives and apply them in the evening when foragers are tucked away in their hives.Let Your Garden Grow: Bees often nest in undisturbed soil or hollow plant stems. Leaving a small corner of your yard a bit "wild" can provide them with a much-needed sanctuary. By making your garden a haven for pollinators, you’re helping to ensure a healthier, more vibrant environment for all of us. Check out our website to grab your pack of Honey Bee Wildflowers and start your own pollinator patch today! 🌸✨
