Bright yellow daylilies are pure sunshine in the garden.

There’s an unmistakable sense of happiness in a bloom this bright. Yellow has long been associated with joy, optimism, friendship, hope, and new beginnings—and when those colors appear across a garden, they have a way of making everything around them feel a little more alive.

On our hybridized daylilies, those yellows can range from soft lemon and buttery gold to brilliant, almost glowing shades that seem to capture the summer sun right in their petals.

Some daylilies seem determined to stretch themselves as far as they possibly can.

Long, slender petals and sepals reach outward before gracefully curving and drooping toward the ground, giving the bloom an almost flowing, ribbon-like appearance. Instead of the compact shape we often associate with daylilies, these unusual forms feel airy, loose, and wonderfully dramatic.

And that’s exactly where their character comes from.

Every thin petal seems to move independently, creating a silhouette that changes depending on the angle you’re viewing it from. In a gentle breeze, they can almost look like they’re dancing above the garden.

They’re a beautiful example of just how wildly different hybridized daylilies can be—and proof that sometimes, the more unusual the shape, the harder it is to look away.

Why daylilies? 🌸 We asked Rick and Nance why they chose them to be at the heart of Souls ’n Bloom.

Part of the answer is their incredible beauty and variety. Daylilies can be soft and simple, wildly ruffled, brilliantly colored, dramatically patterned, or completely unlike the bloom growing beside them.

But there’s something deeper that makes them perfect for Souls ’n Bloom.

They’re perennials. They’re planted, cared for, and given time to establish their roots. Then, season after season, they return and bloom again.

That idea of something beautiful continuing to grow felt perfectly connected to what Rick and Nance wanted Souls ’n Bloom to represent—remembering someone we’ve lost, celebrating someone we love, or marking one of life’s moments with something that can become a lasting part of the garden.
