We took the time to grain and vein this diagonal pattern in the middle of a kitchen floor as well as fabricating 3 rows of liner that will be framed out with black slate.

Every tile guy hates when you take these out and try to fit them together only to find out they’re just made poorly and you can see every line. Cutting out a few rocks along every joint usually does the trick of hiding them decently. What are you guys doing to hide this?

Our liner was thicker than our field tile so we had to make a trench when we mudded to accommodate that difference.

Prepping for a mudded shower is a lost art!

When we build a stem wall we make sure it doesn’t move. We use 2-8” L brackets at the end and sheet it with 1/2” ACX ply...

When we build a stem wall we make sure it doesn’t move. We use 2-8” L brackets at the end and sheet it with 1/2” ACX plywood. This particular one is going to have a handicap bar so we added some 2x6 backing. Our clients safety is vital!

Our customer didn’t like her original liner so she picked a new one that doesn’t fit in the hole. We could have cut about a 1/2” off of the top and bottom of the 3 row liner but then it would look like we miscalculated our layout. So rather than cut it, we decided to cut a strip off our field tile to make up the difference. What are your guys opinions or suggestions?
