**Free native grasses for nonprofit conservation groups**

We’re giving away some 50 count 5” plug trays to any nonprofit conservation group who could use them in any restoration projects. Our main goal is getting these plants in the ground where they can benefit people and wildlife and they’re not doing that sitting in pots at the nursery.

The following are available:
3x Switchgrass
2x indiangrass
2x Sideoats grama

1 tray per group unless no one wants the others.

You can message me through here or call/text 214-460-5795 to set up a pickup time.

Thank you!

Pictured is a switchgrass plug badly in need of a haircut. Nice roots though.

Check out the root growth on this indiangrass in our new “TXXL” plugs. The extra deep size means you get a much more established root ball deeper into the soil where moisture and nutrients are more readily available. These are the ideal size for areas without irrigation readily available or conservation “plant and forget” plantings.

These 4x12” plugs have a greater soil volume than a 1 gallon pot.

Just for reference- indiangrass roots can easily reach 8-15’ deep, tapping into resources deep in the soil so it requires zero inputs like water or fertilizer. Nice pretty blue/silver foliage and makes a very good forage for butterflies and livestock both.

Shown with our normal 5” plug which are also available.

Buffalograss trays coming soon.

Buffalograss is a drought-tolerant native turf grass that requires far less water and maintenance than common turfs like Bermuda or St. Augustine. It has fine blades, making it very soft. Max height 6-8”.

$150 per tray of 50 plugs. 1 tray will cover roughly 100-150sqft when planted on 12-18” centers.

Mallophora fautrix (robber fly) perched on some special blue lowland switchgrass near one of the ponds. They mimic bees and wasps, and feed on both. Very interesting creatures. Nature be crazy 🤷🏻‍♂️

155 Chinkapin oaks just moved from their root-pruning boxes into 1 gallon Rootmaker pots. Got a late start, but these should hopefully be rooted out and available by fall.

This is a big experiment but growing them in this method should produce superior root quality and minimize root entanglement inside the pots, greatly increasing the tree’s rooting ability once transplanted. On the contrary, mass-produced trees in basic round pots and no air pruning almost always create circling roots which cause trees to become “root bound” and drastically reduces the survivability.
