SNAP’s Ghostface Chillah is drawn into the facade of a windowless amenities building at the Santa Monica campus.

The plaster is mixed with mica flakes, so the surface catches the sun differently by hour.

SNAP’s Santa Monica campus park now continues through the front door. Inside the lobby spaces, frit patterns on the glass and a sculpted security desk pick up the language of the park.

The main lobby spaces were designed in collaboration with IA Interior Architects.

Village School’s interim campus at Colorado Center is an Honorable Mention in the Small and Mighty: Fewer Than 100 Employees category of Fast Company’s 2026 Innovation by Design Awards.

Three weeks after the 2025 Palisades Fire, 300 K–6 students were back in class. An office building became their school. Classes ran straight through the spring semester while phase two was designed, approved, and built inside one summer break.

The project proves that adaptive reuse, creative regulatory navigation, and community co-design can turn displacement into an opportunity to reimagine how schools are built.

Canopy overhead, a sculpted amenities building at the center, and enough open ground for lunch with your favorite colleague, a full company all hands, and everything in between.

Village School’s Santa Monica campus is temporary, so OU designed it with a light touch. Principal Christianne Jordan walks through how.

Demountable glass partitions drop into each classroom, which let the team leave the building’s entire MEP system untouched, skip wall insulation, and keep daylight moving across the floor plate.

Every partition is modular and the same size, ready to be unbuilt and reinstalled when the school moves to its permanent home.

Sustainable, cost-friendly, and built to keep the school’s options open.
