If you are remodeling or building in grapevine, Irving , Frisco, Plano, or Southlake, you need to read this.

The countertop question that saves you from a $10k mistake…

…and almost nobody asks it.

It’s this:

“Can we approve the full slab layout before you cut?”

Not the color.
Not the price per square foot.
The layout.

Because once the stone is cut, you’re stuck with:
• where the veins land
• which part of the slab ends up on the island
• where the seams sit
• how the sink and cooktop cutouts break the movement
• whether the overhang and edges even work

Most people fall in love with a sample, say yes fast, and never see the dry layout.

Ask for the layout first.
Approve it in writing.
Then let them cut.

That one question is cheaper than living with the wrong kitchen for 10 years.

Comment CUT44 and I’ll send you the list to ask before anyone cuts your slab.

I talked a Dallas customer OUT of buying marble yesterday 🚫 Not because I don’t sell it — because it was wrong for her kitchen. Marble is beautiful, but it’s needy. Comment KITCHEN44 and I’ll DM you my honest breakdown — which stones are worry-free and which ones demand love. 👇

Dallas — your slab is picked, it’s paid for, it leaves our showroom… and now the scary part starts.

Because your slab goes to your fabricator, and there are four decisions nobody walks you through: the templating, the edge profile, exactly where your seams land, and the sink cutout.

Your fabricator assumes you know. You assume they’ll handle it. And once they cut — there’s no undo button.

I made you a checklist: six questions to ask before anyone cuts.

Comment CUT44 and I’ll send it to you.

If you are working on a backyard project in frisco, you need to read this ;

Most outdoor stone regret isn’t the color.
It’s picking limestone, travertine, or marble without knowing how each one actually performs outside.

Limestone — soft whites, creams, light greys. Cool underfoot, dense and durable. Best for pool decks and patios in hot climates where surface temperature matters most.

Travertine — warm beiges, ivories, soft golds. Naturally textured, slip-resistant when honed or tumbled. Best for pool surrounds and outdoor living that need grip and warmth.

Marble pavers — whites, greys, natural veining. Elevated look for entryways and lower-traffic areas. High traffic needs a textured finish like sandblasted to stay slip-resistant.

Which one fits the space you’re working on?

Comment PAVER44 and I’ll send you which of the three fits your outdoor space — before you buy the wrong one.

Not every stone is built for light.

Quartzite, onyx, and agate can transmit light straight through their crystal structure. Granite and most marble can't — no matter how pale the slab looks on the showroom floor.

We're featuring four backlit slabs in stock now: Cristallo Aurellian, Cristallo Solare, Agata De Azul, and Cristallo Celeste — each selected for how it performs once it's lit, not just how it looks on a shelf.

Swipe through for the full breakdown: what makes a stone work backlit, fabrication and lighting requirements, where it belongs in a project, and the checklist to bring to your next client meeting.

A Quiet Gilded Age — a material study on the Provençal villa.

Every room here is built the same way: choose the stone first, then let the room follow from it.

🍳 The Kitchen — Calacatta Vagli Marble carries the refinement, while travertine underfoot brings it back down to earth — two ideas held in balance, not competing.

🛋️ The Living Room — the whole space organizes itself around one gesture: a fireplace mantle faced in Quattro Stagioni Marble, its sage-green movement reading like something found rather than cut.

🚪 The Entryway — limestone runs uninterrupted, from the front door straight through to the kitchen — one material quietly deciding the tone before you've said a word.

🛁 The Powder Bath — carved, not decorated. Travertine Paradiso on the walls, the vanity, the sink, all from the same block, so the stone never needs help holding the room.

🌿 The Courtyard — the same travertine that ran through the kitchen, now weathered by open air. It isn't part of the material list. It's the reason the materials were chosen at all.

Every stone shown is real in stock.

The Amara Journal — Issue Three: The Hand

No machine has ever made a Zellige tile. Every piece here still passes through human hands — shaped, cut, glazed, and fired one at a time, the same way it's been done for centuries.

That's why no two tiles are ever identical. A slight variation in tone. An edge that isn't perfectly straight. A surface that catches light a little differently from the one beside it. What would read as a flaw in a factory-made tile is, here, the entire point.

This kitchen backsplash carries that imperfection across an entire wall — cream deepening to warm sand, each square slightly its own.

Would you rather a material be perfectly uniform, or imperfectly alive?

Some fireplaces are installed. Others are designed.

Carved from natural travertine, this custom fireplace was conceived as an architectural element—not an accessory. Every proportion, profile, and edge was designed to bring permanence, warmth, and quiet elegance to the room.

At Amara, we believe stone should be shaped with the same intention as the architecture that surrounds it.

Custom travertine fireplace, designed by Amara Stone & Tile Boutique.

What's one architectural element you wish more clients would invest in?

If you could design one custom stone element for a project, what would it be?

TAJ MAHAL OR PERLA VENATA?
Taj Mahal leans warm — creamy golds and soft movement that pair beautifully with warm white or cream cabinetry.

Perla Venata is cooler and more neutral — lighter, brighter, and better suited to a cleaner white or soft gray palette.

The difference isn’t just the slab. It’s the undertone — and that’s the thing a photo will never show you accurately.

This kitchen doesn't exist. Every material in it does. 👀

Introducing The Courtyard Residence — a design concept built from materials in our showroom: Mykonos Quartzite, Terrazzo, and warm wood flooring, paired with dark cabinetry and brushed brass.

Why it works: cool stone veining, warm wood tones, and brass accents that tie every room together — nothing competes, everything grounds.

This is a concept render — but every material shown is real, and it's on our floor right now.

The truth about matching your backsplash to your countertop…

They don’t have to match.

In fact, when everything is too similar, your kitchen can end up looking flat and predictable.

The better approach is to coordinate them.

If your countertop has strong movement, let the backsplash be quieter.

If your countertop is simple, you have more freedom to bring in texture, pattern, or color with the backsplash.

The goal isn’t matching.

It’s creating a kitchen where the countertop and backsplash work together without competing.

Homeowners see a beautiful slab. Designers see 5 potential problems.

A gorgeous slab can still create problems if you don’t look beyond the surface.

Designers are checking:

1. The movement — Will it compete with the cabinets or backsplash?
2. The layout — Will the veining land where you want it?
3. The slab size — Will you need multiple slabs or seams?
4. The finish — Is it practical for how the kitchen will be used?
5. The overall design — Will you still love it once everything is installed?

That’s why choosing a countertop isn’t just about finding the prettiest stone.

It’s about making sure the stone works for your entire kitchen.

The most expensive countertop mistake isn’t choosing the wrong stone…

It’s choosing the stone before you’ve figured out how everything else will work with it.

Your countertop affects more than just the island.

It can change how your cabinets look, how your backsplash works, how much material you need, and even how balanced the entire kitchen feels.

A slab can be beautiful on its own and still be completely wrong for your space.

Choose the stone as part of the design—not as a separate decision.

Most homeowners choose their countertop backwards.

They fall in love with the slab first… then try to make everything else work around it.

But the better approach? Start with the whole kitchen.

Think about your cabinet color, backsplash, flooring, lighting, layout, and how much movement you want in the space BEFORE committing to the slab.

A beautiful stone can still be the wrong choice for your kitchen.

The goal isn’t just to find a gorgeous slab.
It’s to find the slab that makes everything work together.

Amara Journal Material Study:

Some materials don't command a room; they define how it feels. Ocean Travertine carries warmth through quiet movement.
Subtle shifts of cream, sand, and caramel that soften architecture rather than overwhelm it.
Paired with warm oak, aged bronze, and textured plaster, it creates spaces that feel grounded and enduring.
Here, the fireplace isn't just a feature. It's the material that sets the emotional tone.
Stone featured: Ocean Travertine.
Where would you introduce this material?

In this kitchen, luxury isn't announced. It's felt. Honed black soapstone with faint natural veining sets a quiet foundation for warm oak and unlacquered brass.
Light moves across the surfaces, revealing texture rather than shine.
Nothing competes. Each material is allowed its own silence. Restraint here isn't absence.
It's confidence. How do you practice restraint in your projects?

08/19/2026

Some homes don't ask for attention.
They earn it. You notice light first, then material, then the quiet logic holding everything together.
From the first step inside, there's a sense of continuity.
Nothing forced, nothing competing.

There is an understated luxury in natural quartzite that transforms everyday spaces into timeless statements.
This custom home bar is finished with Cristallo Aurelian Quartzite, where a luminous crystalline background is enriched by warm amber and golden veining that catches the light from every angle.
Paired with fluted walnut cabinetry, matte black finishes, brushed brass accents, and rich burgundy seating, the quartzite becomes the focal point of a space designed for effortless entertaining.

Every slab is naturally unique, every countertop is custom fabricated, and every detail has been thoughtfully considered. It's a reminder that exceptional design isn't just about aesthetics—it's about creating spaces that feel inviting, sophisticated, and built to last.
