Some houses come with a to-do list. This one came with a story.
We were contacted by the estate attorney and got the rundown on the craziness that had happened here: bullets, a bearing wall removed, and—somehow—a first-floor trampoline situation. You really can’t make this stuff up.
When we arrived, the house had unfinished walls and arches, a bathtub installed so far into the shower that there was no room for glass, alligator-print wallpaper in the primary bath, and a bathroom mirror mounted about 18 inches too high. Add roughly a thousand drywall patches, bullet holes to fill, and doors that needed trimming just to close, and we had ourselves quite the punch list.
The big one was the missing bearing wall. We installed a three-ply, 14-inch beam to support the structure and make things right. Then we finished the walls and arches, tackled the repairs, and painted the entire interior—including the front door.
There were plenty of laughs along the way, but structural work is serious business. We’re proud we could help turn a house with a wild past into a clean, comfortable home ready for its next chapter.
