🌿🍂 **MY WOODLAND GARDEN: THE GOOD, THE BAD & WHAT'S NEXT!**
Friends, you know what I always say... there are MESSES and SUCCESSES in every garden!
And our woodland garden beside the pond is certainly no exception! 😂
We've been developing this space for nearly two years, and today I'm taking you through the garden to show you exactly what's working, what's struggling, and what we have planned next!
Y'all, this is a challenging garden!
We have NO irrigation, a hillside, areas of dry shade, and other areas where natural springs keep the soil moist almost year-round.
And that means finding the RIGHT plant for the RIGHT spot is so important!
🌸 **THE SUCCESSES!**
Our Japanese maples and Fairytrail Bride hydrangeas are doing beautifully!
The hellebores are getting established, our Christmas ferns are happy, and the Florida Sunshine illiciums are absolutely loving their location!
And y'all... the Fall Festival camellia is BLOOMING its little heart out! 😍
Plus, the High Five Green Fingers fatsia has completely exceeded my expectations!
🌿 **THE CHALLENGES!**
Some of our newer plants need a good drink after this dry stretch.
We're still watching the Robin's plantain to see whether we've found its happy place.
And then there's the pulmonaria...
SOMETHING is eating it, and I still cannot figure out what! 😂
The hostas are fine. The heucheras are fine. But the pulmonaria? Apparently, it's on somebody's dinner menu!
🪨 **WHAT'S NEXT?**
We're planning beautiful blue granite steps connecting the woodland garden to the old logging road, natural pathways, expanded planting beds along the pond, and more peaceful places to sit and enjoy this beautiful area.
And of course, MORE PLANTS!
I love sharing these honest garden updates because gardening is a journey. We try things, we learn, we make adjustments, and we keep growing!
**Tell me, friends: What's been your biggest gardening SUCCESS this year? And what's been your biggest MESS?** 💚
