Sometimes you find the one finish and build the room around it.

For this Preston Hollow kitchen, it was the Blue Macauba quartzite countertop. The homeowners fell in love with it, and it became the inspiration for the finishes throughout the rest of the space.

For this Preston Hollow home, a reimagined layout made better use of the existing space, with a generous island, additional storage, a breakfast area, butler’s pantry, and dedicated coffee bar.

How do you modernize a 1916 Highland Park Colonial without erasing what makes it special? ✨

The homeowner loved the antique character of her home, but the kitchen no longer worked for the way she lives today. She needed better storage, a functional island, and a space designed for entertaining.

The challenge was adding modern function while making every update feel at home within the original architecture.

The new design brings together:

→ Central island with sink
→ Warm wood cabinetry + brass accents
→ Taj Mahal countertops
→ Mosaic backsplash
→ Distinctive lighting
→ Dedicated bar cabinetry
→ Custom mud bench
→ Reworked laundry room

Even the flooring was approached with the home’s history in mind, using an updated pattern and color that complement its original character.

The result gives the homeowner the functionality she needs while preserving what made this 1916 home special in the first place.
