Walls measured, seams aligned, world saved—or at least kept remarkably seam -free.
Time to Kick the shoes off, put the tools down, and don’t look at a level for the rest of the weekend. And that's a wrap!

Friday energy = fresh walls energy. 🎶💛
There's nothing like a room that makes you smile the second you walk in. That's the whole mission here — spaces you LOVE living in.

Happy Friday, friends!

Photos will never do this justice.

This is an string chevron with prism thread - meaning the wall literally morphs as the light shifts and you move through the space.

From deep ink to fiery copper to iridescent violet, every single angle feels alive!

Installing string wallcoverings is already pure precision work. Aligning an oversized chevron across multiple planes so the diagonal tension never breaks? That takes obsession.

We don't just cover walls - we bring them to life.

Forty years in, and I’m still teaching every day.

Here, I’m showing my new apprentice how to wrap a four-inch recessed window using heavy fabric-backed vinyl. A little gentle heat softens the material, and a little VOV aka vinyl-over-vinyl adhesive (now called 555), helps secure the wrap. Then you fold it into the recess and trim carefully.

With this material and heat setting, 30 to 60 seconds was enough. Push it to 90 seconds and you risk melting the vinyl and destroying its embossed texture.

Knowing how the material responds is part of learning the craft. I train constantly because I want to help build the next generation of skilled wallcovering installers.

THIS CRAFT NEEDS YOU

If you can spot something 1/16" out of level while everyone else is saying, “Looks perfect to me”...

If crooked pictures bother you from across the room...

If you have crippling attention to detail and get an unreasonable amount of satisfaction from making something look exactly right...

You may have found your people.

The Wallpaper Lab is looking for experienced wallcovering installers - and for serious craftspeople who want to be mentored into the trade properly.
Wallcovering installation is an artisan craft.

It takes patience, precision, problem-solving, a great eye, steady hands and the ability to remain calm while holding material expensive enough to make you question your life choices.

You’ll work with grasscloths, silks, murals, textiles, specialty wallcoverings, hand-trimmed papers, difficult ceilings and the kinds of installations most people would rather politely decline.

And you’ll have the opportunity to learn alongside a master installer with more than 40 years in the trade.

That kind of knowledge is hard-earned.
We believe it should be passed down, not lost.

We’re not just looking for someone who wants another job.

We’re looking for people who want to get exceptionally good at something rare.

People who take pride in working with their hands.

People who care about the tiny details nobody else notices.

People who may someday help us pass this craft on to the next generation too.

And yes, occasionally you’ll be standing on a ladder, wallpapering a ceiling, wondering exactly where your life went sideways.
Then you step back and think:
Damn. That looks incredible!

If this sounds like you, we should talk.
