GDL Painting Inc. GDL Painting is a 5th generation church painting company that is owned and operated by Gabriel Lewis, grandson of Darrell Riehle.

We are here to restore your church or building back to its former glory with an updated decorative scheme.

Our team is hard at work bringing the beautiful ornamental ceiling moldings in the center of this historic church to life with intricate, hand-applied stenciling!

This is a long, meticulous process that requires patience, precision, and attention to detail, but the results are truly remarkable.

To put the scale of this project into perspective, the ceiling rises approximately 45 feet above the church floor, and the large central stencil measures roughly 4 feet tall by 8 feet long!

More progress at this beautiful, 100-year-old Catholic church!

We’re nearing completion on the 18 large custom panels we built and stenciled. Next, we’ll turn our attention to the ceiling and the decorative stenciling between the archways.

The newly installed lights are bringing out more of the church’s natural beauty and helping showcase the detail in our work. We’re looking forward to sharing more as we get closer to the finish!

Check out the remarkable progress we have made at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet MN. We have been applying large white stenciling to our custom panels we decorated on the walls. There is 18 panels which will all have the same stenciling once completed.

For size reference, each panel is roughly 4 ft tall, by 8 ft wide and roughly 30 ft tall inside the church.

Take a look at the current church restoration project we have been working hard on for the past couple of weeks. Our scope of work is to paint all the decorative borders, apply large fleur de lis stencils, stencil lettering, and all the decorative work!

This parish recently had their 100 year anniversary celebration this spring. Stay tuned for once we start applying the stencils to our backgrounds that we worked so hard to decorate.

Another beautiful lakefront exterior completed by our team this past week!

This project started with a thorough pressure wash, followed by scraping all failing paint on the cedar siding. We replaced over 24 tubes of caulk, oil-based primed all bare and weathered areas, and finished the home with two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald® Rain Refresh®.

Using premium products and a meticulous preparation process helps ensure this lake home stays beautiful, protected, and easier to keep clean for years to come.

Take a look at this massive exterior repaint project our team recently completed!

With hundreds of panes of glass and beautiful copper gutters, surface protection was one of the most critical parts of this project. We applied liquid masking to every window pane and completely protected all copper gutters to ensure paint only went where it belonged.

Our restoration process included:
✔️ Scraping all failing paint
✔️ Thorough caulking
✔️ Oil-based spot priming on all bare wood
✔️ Two full coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald® Rain Refresh in a custom off-white color

Using premium materials and proper preparation is what allows an exterior paint job to look great and stand the test of time.

Our team has been extremely busy the last couple of months tackling some large exterior projects!

Check out this completed project we recently finished for Kaiser Corson Funeral Home in Denver, IA. We completed a full prime and paint process on all siding and trim using premium Sherwin-Williams products to ensure a beautiful, long-lasting finish.

We're currently putting the finishing touches on another large exterior project—stay tuned for the finished reveal next week!

P.S. Don't be concerned about the paint on the French doors and windows in the progress photos. Liquid masking is an incredible tool that allows us to protect wood windows while delivering clean, professional results on every project.
