Do you love the idea of telling Alexa to open the shades, or having your bedroom shades rise automatically in the morning, but assume motorized window treatments require complicated wiring, a sophisticated smart home system, or a luxury-sized budget?

Don't worry, they don’t.

We're busting all the motorization myths this month 👉 windowsdressedup.com/motorized-window-treatments-denver-myths/

Sustainability can mean a lot of different things in home design. At Windows Dressed Up, one of the first things we think about is how long something will last in your home.

A well-made Roman shade, custom drapery panel, or shutter should fit the window correctly, function the way you need it to, and still look good years from now.

Here in Colorado, window treatments can also help manage intense sun and heat, add insulation during colder months, and protect interiors from UV exposure.

If you’re trying to make more sustainable choices at home, start with your windows. Read the blog to learn more ➡️ windowsdressedup.com/sustainable-window-treatments-beautiful-choices-that-are-better-for-your-home/

We’re seeing a little shift happening in interiors lately, and we’re here for it.

The clean, minimalist look isn’t going anywhere, but our clients want their homes to feel warmer and a little more collected.

One place we’re seeing it? Drapery hardware.

Old gold, antique brass, and bronze finishes are coming back into the conversation. They work beautifully with fabric and texture, bringing character to a room without making it feel overly formal.

It feels like we’re moving away from choosing something simply because it looks “clean” and asking a better question: Does this make the room feel good to live in?

Want the function of a shade with a softer, more designer look?

Roman shades are one of our favorite ways to bring fabric to a window without the fullness of drapery. When raised, the fabric folds neatly above the window. Lower it, and you have the privacy and light control you expect from a shade.

The fabric is where Roman shades get interesting. A pattern can become part of the room, like the floral shown here, while a linen or textured neutral can add softness without drawing as much attention.

They’re also easy to motorize, which is especially useful for wide windows, hard-to-reach locations, or simply making daily adjustments easier.

For this bedroom, a collaboration with the talented design team at Studio Lambiotte, the gives the window a finished, bespoke look while still doing its job every day.

Some windows need a treatment that can take daily life in stride.

Shutters are a great option for rooms where you want easy light control, privacy, and a clean architectural look. Tilt the louvers when you want daylight without leaving the entire window exposed, or close them when you want more coverage.

They’re also worth considering if you don’t want fabric at every window. In the right room, shutters become part of the architecture and give the window a finished look without adding another pattern or textile.

At Windows Dressed Up, we’ll help you compare shutters with shades, blinds, and other options so you can choose based on the window and how the room gets used. WDU offers shutters alongside its custom draperies, Roman shades, blinds, shades, and motorized window coverings.

Sometimes a room has all the right pieces and still feels like something is missing.

Then the drapery goes up. ✨

Custom drapery adds softness around the windows, helps with privacy and light control, and can make the proportions of the entire room feel better. We work with you to choose the fabric, lining, hardware, and finished length for your actual windows and the way you use the space.

And custom doesn’t have to mean overly formal. We love simple panels in easy neutrals, relaxed textures, and fabrics that work with what you already have.

Our draperies are made locally in our Denver workroom, and our team handles every detail from measuring through installation.

Have a room that feels almost finished? The windows may be the missing piece.

Three homes. One longtime client. 🙌

Having a client choose Windows Dressed Up for one home means a lot to us. Having them come back for a second, and then a third, says even more.

Over the past decade, we’ve had the pleasure of helping Katie dress the windows in three different homes. Each house had its own style and decisions to make, and our team helped find the treatments that fit each one.

Another reason we love this review is that it says something we hear often. You don’t have to love making design decisions to end up with windows you love. Bring us the house, tell us what you like and what you need the windows to do, and we’ll guide you from there.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Just completed installation on my third house in the last decade or so by Windows Dressed Up and the experience each time has been most excellent. I cower before design decisions. I am TERRIBLE at that stuff and it bores me to tears. Fear not! Heather knows literally everything there is to know about window treatments and she has VISION. The selections she made are elegant, understated and fit the personality of the house(s) perfectly. Highly recommend!” - Katie W.

You found the house. You moved in. And then you realized just how many windows you have.

If you’re staring at a house full of bare windows, you don’t have to figure out every shade, measurement, privacy issue, and light problem on your own.

We help Denver homeowners choose window treatments that make sense for each room, then handle the measuring, ordering, and installation.

Start with the windows that bother you most. The bedroom that gets too bright in the morning. The living room that needs privacy at night. The west-facing windows that take the full force of Colorado afternoon sun.

Remember, you don’t have to do the entire house at once.

Come see us at our Denver design studio. We’ll help you make a plan.

Designers, you put so much thought into every detail — the layout, the finishes, the furniture, the styling. But bare or “just okay” windows leave the space feeling incomplete.

Custom window treatments are the final layer that ties it all together, not just elevating the room, but transforming it.

They’re what help your design translate in photos, turning finished spaces into magazine-worthy moments that capture the full vision.

With the right partner, finishing the windows doesn’t mean more work.
It means better results and a portfolio that tells the whole story.

The light is changing. And so is the way we live at home. ✨

Fall in Colorado brings lower sunlight, earlier evenings, and a little more time spent indoors. It’s when layers, texture, and warmer materials start to feel especially good.

We love what woven shades and drapery bring to a home this time of year. They soften the changing light and give you more control over it as the days get shorter.

A seasonal shift we’re always happy to see.
