🦁 THE FLOOR PROCESS · PART 3

The pour. This is where it all comes together. 👇

Before a single drop, we set leveling pins across the entire room at different heights. Each pin marks exactly how high the self leveler needs to reach in that spot, so the whole floor finishes dead level instead of wavy.

Then we pour. Mixed right, worked fast, done right. And when it’s finished, your subfloor should look like this: smooth like glass. No waves, no high spots, no guesswork. We leave the pins peeking out just enough to know every inch hit the right depth.

That glass-smooth base is the difference between a floor that looks flawless for years and one that telegraphs every flaw underneath. Most people never see this step. It’s the whole reason the finished floor lands perfect.

Metro Detroit, this is how a floor gets done right, start to finish.

🏆 Part 1 was the prep, Part 2 the setup, and this is the pour.

🦁 THE FLOOR PROCESS · PART 2

Here’s the part most flooring guys skip. 👇

Once your primer is down, you can’t rush it. This one needs a full 60 minutes to cure before anything else happens. Skip that wait and the whole floor fails down the road.

Then comes the detail that separates a floor that lasts from a floor that cracks: expansion strips around the entire perimeter. That little gap lets the self leveler breathe. So when the house shifts (and every house shifts), your floor doesn’t crack. It also keeps the self leveler from running off into rooms it was never meant to touch.

Last step before the pour: leveling pins. We find the lowest spot in the room and build up from low to high, so the finished floor comes out dead flat. No guessing. No eyeballing it.

This is the prep work you never see, and it’s exactly why our floors hold up. 🏆
Metro Detroit, this is how it’s done right. Stay tuned for Part 3, the pour. 👀

🦁 This is where most floors go wrong. Before a single plank goes down, the floor has to be made.
This Metro Detroit home: two bedrooms, a living room, and a subfloor that’s badly out of level. So we’re laying a full self-leveling floor, and Step 1 is the part cheap installers love to skip 👇 clean and prime.

Why it actually matters:

🔹 The primer (Uten PE 260) is what makes the self-leveler truly bond to the subfloor. Skip it, and you’ve got no real bond.
🔹 Plywood flexes and moves. So we add fibers to the mix (NC 150) for extra strength. That’s what keeps your floor from cracking down the road.
Red bags come with the fibers. Green bags, we add them ourselves. Either way, it gets done right the first time.

👀 This is Part 1 of the process. Follow along to see a floor done the right way, start to finish.

Prep is where floors are actually made. 🦁

Restaurants. Homes. Commercial buildings. The job changes — the prep doesn’t. Before a single plank, tile, or board goes down, the surface has to be cleaned, leveled, and prepped the right way. It’s the step most crews rush. It’s also the reason most floors start to creak, lift, or warp within 5 years.

We don’t cut this corner. Ever. Whether we’re installing for a Detroit restaurant before opening night, a family home in Bloomfield Hills, or a Metro Detroit commercial space — the prep is the same.

Ask a contractor about their prep process before you ask about their price.
