It’s easy to look at the finished photos and focus on the tile, steam shower and fixtures. But a lot of the work on this Villanova bathroom is what you’ll never see.
This home was originally a carriage house for the Clothier Estate, and like a lot of older homes on the Main Line, there were years of additions, old plumbing and mechanical tie-ins behind the walls.
The existing steam shower was aging and its mechanicals were beginning to fail. We removed the old radiator and replaced it with heated flooring, replaced old cast iron plumbing with modern PVC, updated the steam system, and worked through the existing mechanicals before we ever got to the finishes.
Then we made it look great.
Floor-to-ceiling tile reaching the full 9-foot height, a fully enclosed steam shower, warm cabinetry, custom storage and updated lighting completely changed the room without changing its footprint.
Old homes come with old bones. Sometimes the best part of a renovation is making those right first.
Thinking about updating an older home on the Main Line? Give us a call. We’d be happy to take a look.
