Paper cups, index cards, paper clips... and a lot of curveballs. 🗼

Our team recently ran "Adapt or Lose" — a tower-building challenge where the rules kept changing mid-build. Sound familiar? It mirrored exactly what happens on real projects: shifting client priorities, new tech, unexpected pivots.

The takeaway? The best original plan doesn't always win. The teams who adapted fastest did. 💪

As the days get shorter, it’s easy to blame afternoon fatigue on the season. But what’s happening overhead could also be playing a role. 💡

Workplace lighting can have a bigger impact on comfort, focus, energy, and productivity than many businesses realize. From reducing glare to making better use of natural light, thoughtful lighting choices can help create a workplace where employees feel more comfortable and supported throughout the day.

Take a closer look at why workplace wellness can start with better lighting. 👇

☀️ Privacy doesn't have to come at the expense of openness.

These workstations were designed to give employees a sense of personal space while preserving the bright, connected feel of the office.

The workstation panels help reduce distractions and create separation between workspaces, while natural light and open sightlines keep the environment welcoming and collaborative.

It's all about finding the right balance between focus, productivity, and connection.

More time in the office can mean more opportunities for collaboration, productivity, and connection but the workplace needs to support it.

From workstations and conference rooms to reception areas and custom furniture, thoughtful updates can help organizations make better use of their space while getting more value from their investment.

Read the blog to explore how custom and off-the-shelf office furniture compare and why the lowest upfront cost isn’t always the best value.

We’re proud to celebrate Mike Warren, Rieke Interiors’ Workplace Culture Consultant, who is serving as the Honorary Chairperson for this year’s Elgin CROP Walk.

Mike was recognized for his longtime commitment to the community and his passion for addressing hunger insecurity. Mike has continued to support efforts that help provide food and resources to those in need. During the COVID crisis in 2020, he helped raise more than $200,000 from local businesses and governments to provide food to the community when it was needed most.

On September 23, 2026, Mike was recognized by the Office of Mayor David J. Kaptain for his community service and dedication to making a difference.

We’re grateful to have Mike as part of the Rieke team and proud to see his commitment to serving others recognized in the community. Congratulations, Mike! 👏

Only 25% of job seekers today would even consider a role requiring five full days in office. 📉

Companies pushing rigid mandates aren't seeing the results they expect — office occupancy is still hovering around 50% of pre-pandemic levels, even at companies enforcing stricter policies. Meanwhile, hybrid policies with just one day onsite per week are seeing retention jump 41%.

Maybe "how many days" isn't the right question. What matters more is what that time in the office actually feels like. 🤔
