This is not an atypical scene outside a greenhouse business. We've become so used to buying plants in plastic pots and then hoping/assuming/thinking that we've done OUR part by returning those pots to a nearby greenhouse....Some pots will be recycled, but the reality is far more are tossed. There is a better way. Biodegradable pots that support early plant development but then are meant to be planted in the ground, leaving no trash or rubbish is a huge step towards reducing plastic, piled high behind a greenhouse and filling a landfill.

We are at THIS point in the growing season! The CowPots that were left growing in the greenhouse or out on the bench are TIRED! They did their job and are looking pretty rough around the edges, sides, middle and bottom! And the pots that were planted into a bigger pot or into the ground made great progress with breaking down and decomposing.
Whether you're dumping out flowering annuals that have reached the end of their blooming life or have a few planted CowPots still hanging around that never made it into the garden, this is the easy part: it can all get tossed into your compost pile! Nothing to pull apart, remove or set aside for the trash.

Herbs are an easy way to extend the flavors of summer and are well suited to transfer from outside to inside when temperatures start to dip in the Fall. Even in midsummer, we'll seed out parsley, cilantro, and basil for harvesting in late summer/early fall.

That time of the year when we are reaping the harvests of the tiny little seeds that were sowed in February and transplanted into CowPots in March and transitioned into our greenhouse by April.

Summer dreams are made of these.
