Ever wonder why deck season ends when it does? 🤔 It's not really the afternoon high we're watching… it's the overnight low 👀
Stain needs three things: a dry deck going on, temps that stay warm enough while it sets up, and dry weather after. A lot of stain labels ask for air & surface temps of at least 50° that hold through the next day. In a Rochester October, the afternoons can be perfect while the nights aren't… so the window closes.
This is what it looks like when the weather lines up 😎 Before: dry, silvery gray boards next to the pool. After: a warm stain with the grain still showing through ✨ (Slide 3 is a different pool deck, mid-stain!)
One of our deck clients said it better than I can:
"Grateful that they kept a close eye on the forecast and made sure my decks would be dry before application and have a good period to cure after painting." – Meg S. 🤍
