Keeping Minnesota Beautiful One Garden At A Time!

I have been getting a lot of questions lately about whether or not you can still safely plant trees and shrubs. Fall is a great time to plant trees, shrubs, evergreens and perennials. The trees continue to grow roots until the ground freezes completely which doesn't happen until late December. Insects and diseases are not nearly as prevalent in the fall. Moisture is usually more abundant in the fall while heat stress is much less. These are just a few reasons why trees planted in the fall are generally more healthy than trees planted during the spring and summer.
