We contracted with lander county to do a large pond and waterfalls. The project was wonderful but an experience we had was even better. One day we were working in the pond and an older couple came walking right up to me as I worked. He gave me a card and a vase of flowers. He told me he was a veteran and had a connection with Ira Hayes, one of the marines in the statue. He had tears in his eyes as he knelt beside the statue. He came back a couple days later for the dedication. We worked so hard to have the waterfeatures working for the dedication. We turned on all the pumps 30 minutes before the ceremony. We all watched and listened as the community dedicated this site to the ones who served. Thank you Lander County and the residents of Battle Mountain for the opportunity. It was much more than another great job but a wonderful experience.
