I couldn’t agree more with today’s Daily Stoic.
When I started Fairground Farms three years ago, I was surprisingly nervous about putting myself back out into the community where I grew up. Looking back, there wasn’t really a reason to be. I think it was simply the fear of doing something completely new, making myself vulnerable, and wondering how this little business would be received by people who had known me throughout different chapters of my life.
What I found instead was something I never expected. I was embraced with kindness, encouragement, and support from this incredible community. I say I was “welcomed back,” but the truth is, it never really felt like I had left.
One of the greatest rewards has been reconnecting with former teachers, coworkers, classmates, lifelong friends, and the local businesses that have been part of Elwood for generations. Those conversations have meant just as much to me as growing plants.
This little business has rewarded me in more ways than I ever imagined, and today’s Daily Stoic reminded me to pause and appreciate just how meaningful this journey has been.
Fairground Farms will always call Elwood, Indiana home. My hope is that as our community continues to grow, Fairground Farms grows right alongside it.
Thank you, Elwood, for believing in me, supporting this dream, and making this journey so special. 🌱 🖤
