This shaft had a severely worn keyway that would normally lead many people to replace the entire shaft. Instead, we restored it using a proven repair method.

A solid brass key is fitted into the damaged keyway before welding. Since weld metal does not fuse to brass, it acts as a backing that allows the damaged sides of the keyway to be built back up without filling the keyway itself. Once the weld cools, the brass key is removed, and the keyway is precisely ground and fitted back to its original dimensions.

Sometimes you’ve got to play dentist.

Today this excavator bucket came in needing a new shank. We removed the worn shank, prepped everything properly, fitted the new one, and welded it on so it’s ready to get back to work.

This attachment was brought back to life by removing the failed welds, beveling the joint, preheating the material, and adding reinforcement gussets to help prevent future failures. Ready to get back to work.
