October = Branch eventing 🍂🍂🍂🍂

This event was a fun one: helping plan a coven gathering at the BVille movie theater for one of our customers and 50 of her friends. This little gem of a theater was the perfect location for a witchy night with a grazing table, appetizers, and cocktails.

Our inspiration for the grazing table was the kitchen island in the movie Practical Magic which is a bohemian, artfully messy, colorful, centerpiece.

Brie cakes...our new obsession.

The latest cupcake cake by Ellie, our incredibly talented custom baker (you may recall the giant spider cake she did for a vampire party and her dogwood branch for our anniversary party) was a bottle of love potion that the hostess requested to go with her theme.

All of the party was set up in the lobby where guests enjoyed food, drinks, concessions, before heading into the theater.

Seasonal and exotic fruit were mixed in--Concord grapes, pomegranate, persimmons and dragon fruit.

Shrimp cocktail was also a hostess request so we filled silver bowls to the brim.

We find ourselves making a potato chip/crispy prosciutto/crème fraiche/ parm tower for almost any party. They cannot be resisted.

Little black Chinese take-out containers were filled with falafel, hummus, salad, and pita for a Mediterranean appetizer.

Who knew the theater has a faux fireplace...and Jill just happened to have a glowing firewood installation to put inside 🔥 .

October is a major party season for Branch and we have been busy designing and decorating events all month long. We will be sharing them all here and first up is this bridal shower which the hostess wanted to marry with an autumnal theme 🍂

A custom sign greeted guests with the shower's theme: Leaves, Love and Paws (the bride and groom's dog inspired some of the decor).

Centerpieces were not your typical "bridal" colors but reflected the season and the colors all around us right now.

And thank goodness for dahlias and hydrangeas which inspired all of the arrangements.

The flower colors of dusty rose, coral pink and sage-y green popped on the not so traditional black linens.

And Jill made custom lanterns for the centerpiece using photos of the bride from throughout her life 🩷

And sage linens wrapped around the flowers, lantern, and a wooden pedestal tied everything together.

The hostess wanted to create a special cookbook for the bride and groom using recipes from all the guests.

It was a very sweet DIY project with everyone writing their recipes on cards and then taking a photo on an insta camera and adding to the book with washi tape to create a group cookbook scrapbook.

The place cards were tied to small jars of honey from our local honey guy Dan Ely 🐝 which were also the party favor 🍯

Is it too soon for The Great Pumpkin Waltz and a roasted veg bowl? We think not, it's autumn 🍂 and we're all in! And to answer the eternal Branch question: How do we use some of the ingredients in the pantry, here are a few ideas...

We all love these dates from Rancho Meladuco Date Farm but did you know they are terrific when blended with tahini, olive oil, apple c***r vinegar and white miso from Sarah and Isaiah (and a splash of water to thin) to make the most delicious dressing/rice bowl topper?

If you don't have a blending wand (plug-in, not the cordless variety) and a stack of deli quart containers in your life, then what are you waiting for?

This is if you like it on the thicker side but you can drizzle in water and blend more if you want it thinner.

Now your rice bowl toppings...

Delicata squash (from Bellis Farm just down the road Blair Bellis, FNTP 🧡) roasted with olive oil, salt, pepper and sumac (we just got in a wonderful lemon-y variety from Burlap & Barrel | Single-Origin Spices). Make sure don't peel these before roasting, the skin gets nice and crunchy.

Jasmine rice...a personal fave (cooked in a rice cooker because you can't mess it up).

Now to assemble your bowl: Besides the veg we love to add lentils because apparently we need to eat more fiber. To make it easier we sometimes use the canned lentils from Trader Joe's, and then season them with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.

Finished bowl: Roasted broccoli (arguably the best way to eat broccoli 🥦), delicata, lentils, and some sliced Persian cucumbers 🥒 because we found them in the fridge).

And then all that it needs is a big dollop of the date-tahini magic...

Enjoy any variation of this that your heart desires, and in the meantime, we will keep sharing more fall food and decorating ideas with you all season long 🍁🍁🍁🍁

We love a wedding 👰🏻‍♀️ but we REALLY love making custom welcome bags for wedding guests 🍾From the monogram tote, to the curated gifts in the bride and groom's signature color, we always aim to create something equally fun and memorable. When I was a girl, my mom would take us down the shore a lot and there was always a very specific routine (one that always included her favorite fruit and veggie stand, more on that later). For the last 6 years, we have rented down at the Jersey shore and just like my mom, I have a very specific routine, starting with leaving home, what to pack and what to do first when we get here. Maybe there are some of you out there that have a routine too, feel free to share, here is mine!
