Proof that you don’t need to buy all new things to make a space feel brand new! 🤎

Our kitchen got a little refresh, and the goal was simple: bring more warmth, character, and cozy charm into a space that was feeling a little blah!

And the best part? Almost everything you see is stuff we already owned! We simply shopped our home, moved things around, and restyled a few areas to give the kitchen a whole new feel.

The only new additions were the cabinet hardware and this BEAUTIFUL round rug from Amber Lewis x Loloi new Ruthford Collection (RUT-01) in Brown/Beige (gifted)! 😍 The warm, earthy tones and vintage-inspired pattern were exactly what this space needed to tie everything together and add a little extra charm.

14 years together and our 9th wedding anniversary in 2 weeks. Forever grateful to my 18 year old self for picking this gem of a human to do life with🥹🤍

The final piece of our backyard transformation is HERE! 🥹🏡( ) In partnership with The Home Depot we’re finally replacing our old deck railing and this one feels extra special.

For the last 6 years, The Home Depot has been part of so many of our home projects, big and small, so getting to partner with them to finish one of the last pieces of our backyard feels like such a full-circle moment🧡

Our old railing had definitely seen better days… chipped, warped, and no longer something we felt comfortable having around our friends’ kids, family, or the dogs. It was TIME.

We chose Trex composite railing in white with charcoal black round aluminum balusters, and we love how it completely updated the look of the deck while still fitting the style of our home.

Even better:
•Minimal maintenance-no painting or staining 🙌🏽
• Cleans easily with soap + water
• Composite material won’t warp, rot, split, or splinter
• DIY-friendly installation
• Everything we needed to tackle the project ourselves was available at The Home Depot

We’ve spent the last two years slowly transforming this backyard one project at a time, and seeing the deck finally come together feels like the finishing touch we’ve been waiting for!

DIY DECK RENOVATION | PART 1 🔨🏡

From warped deck boards and questionable stairs to a deck that’s finally getting the glow-up it deserves! 👏🏼

First things first, we made sure the existing structure was safe and structurally sound before getting to work. We were surprised to find some support posts were just chillin on top of the dirt and not actually supporting 🥴

✔️ Replaced the old deck stairs
✔️ Ripped up all the worn-out deck boards
✔️ Installed new Trex composite decking for a beautiful, low-maintenance finish (we got so lucky and got an amazing deal on the boards from a friend who had extra from their project🙌🏽)
✔️ Prepped our posts for the new deck railing system

And because no DIY renovation is complete without a little chaos… there was a brief period when our dogs had no way to get into the backyard. So naturally, we resorted to letting Birdie and Dottie out to go potty THROUGH THE BASEMENT WINDOW. 😂🐾 Nothing like a little window hopping to keep things interesting!

Our goal with this backyard deck makeover was to create a safer, more functional outdoor living space that we can enjoy for years to come WITHOUT the constant sanding, staining, and maintenance of traditional wood decking.
