The Timer Mistake Behind Most Christmas Light Service Calls
Here is the number one mistake most installers in this industry still make. They rely on photocell timers.
About 80 percent of the industry uses them because they sound convenient, the lights trigger automatically once it gets dark. The catch is that any nearby light source, even a simple porch light, can stop the photocell from triggering at all. Depending on the bulb size and wattage, some houses work fine and others never turn on.
This was actually our number one service warranty issue last year.
So we made a change. Every single one of our customers is now on a digital timer. We know exactly when the lights turn on and exactly when they turn off, every day, with no guesswork involved. We ordered 500 of these timers, and they are going on every installation from here forward.
