This is our first storm we’ve gone through since we started—and it honestly confirmed what I already suspected about why our insurance costs are so crazy for roofs.
Seeing it firsthand is wild and really sad. The gouging happening from some companies is unreal. And what’s worse is that people don’t consider the long-term impact—correction, they just don’t care.
We were charging $350 to $500 for tarping. Meanwhile, other companies quoted $4,500 to $9,000 for the same work. I don’t even know how to put into words how I feel about that.
Now we’re seeing quotes that are $6,000+ higher for the exact same house, and people are still signing them. 😳
One thing is for sure: we will never gouge—no matter what. Even if we’re backed up and working through our list, we’ll always keep our morals and ethics straight.
So if you hear people complaining about what they paid, just remember: they had options. They just didn’t do their research.
