AJS Custom Remodeling

🔨 From Unfinished to Functional! 🏡
Another project in the books for AJS Custom Remodeling!
This time, we tackled finishing out a garage and adding a new door for easier, more convenient access.
Sometimes the best home improvements aren't about fancy upgrades or major transformations. They're about making the space you already have work better for YOU!
From unfinished walls to a more functional space, it's the little details and practical solutions that make a big difference.
💛 And as always, we're grateful for every homeowner who chooses to support a local tradesman.
When you hire local, you're not just paying for a project. You're helping put food on a local family's table, supporting your neighbors, and keeping money in the community instead of sending it through corporate middlemen.
Big or small, every project matters to us because every customer matters.

🏡 Sometimes making a home work better means thinking outside the walls! 🛠️
This homeowner wanted something simple—a new way to access the outside of their home. But making it happen took a little creativity!
We had to reduce the size of an existing closet to make room for the new exterior door, then build a porch landing outside to complete the project.
A little less closet space, a whole lot more convenience! 🙌
That's one of the things we love about what we do. Not every project is about making something bigger or fancier. Sometimes it's about finding practical solutions that make a home work better for the people living in it.
And when you choose a local tradesman, you're supporting more than a business. You're supporting a family, a community, and someone who takes pride in the work they put their name on. 💛

21 feet. Built completely from scratch! 💛🖤

This custom built-in entertainment center was a first for AJS, and definitely one of those projects that taught us a lot along the way. From figuring out the design to building every section and watching it all come together, there was plenty of problem-solving, learning, and adjusting as we went.
That's part of being a tradesman—you never stop learning your craft. And we're pretty proud of how this one turned out.
21 feet of custom-built storage, shelving, and a whole lot of lessons we'll carry into the next one.

Local Tradesman. Honest Work. Fair Pricing. No Middlemen.

One of my favorite parts of working directly with homeowners is that your home gets to look like YOUR home. This homeowner had a vision for their bathroom, got to make their own design choices, and we get to be the hands that help bring that vision to life.
Of course, demo day decided to keep things interesting. We opened things up and discovered a yellow jacket nest hiding inside the bathroom. Because apparently tearing out a bathroom wasn't exciting enough.
And in one of those you can't make this stuff up moments—the homeowners happened to own bee suits. 🐝
That's the thing about remodeling. Every house has a story, every project is different, and sometimes you don't know what you're dealing with until the walls come down. Having someone local who actually cares about the home, the homeowner, and doing the job right matters.
And when you hire AJS Custom Remodeling, you're doing more than paying for a remodel.
You're helping a local family buy groceries. You're helping put gas in the truck. You're supporting other local businesses we buy materials and services from. You're helping keep money right here in our community instead of sending it through layers of middlemen to a corporation that doesn't know your name.
Keeping it local feeds local families.
No giant corporate office. No salesperson handing your project off to someone you've never met. Just a local tradesman, working directly with you to make your home better.

🐝🔨 Just another demo day… with a few unexpected guests!
One thing about remodeling: you never really know what you’re going to find once you start opening up walls. This bathroom demo revealed a yellow jacket nest hiding where we definitely didn’t expect it.
Thankfully, these homeowners just happened to have bee suits on hand. Because apparently “Do you happen to own a bee suit?” is now a perfectly reasonable contractor question. 😂
It’s moments like these that remind us why we love what we do. Remodeling isn’t always predictable. Sometimes it means uncovering old repairs, solving problems as you go, adapting to the unexpected — and occasionally suiting up for battle with yellow jackets.
We’re also incredibly grateful for the homeowners who trust us with their spaces and for a community that continues to support local tradesmen. When you choose local, you’re supporting skilled people who live and work in your community — people who care about doing the job right, keeping costs reasonable, and treating your home like it matters.
Locals supporting locals. Honest work. Fair pricing. No middlemen.
And, apparently, sometimes bee suits. 🐝😂

Stepping into a bigger project, while also getting the opportunity to build a shop with my father-in-law has been equal parts exciting, stressful, and rewarding. Trying to split my focus between the current job and preparing a permanent workspace hasn’t been easy — but it’s all part of building something bigger for the future.

The goal isn’t just to get through the current project. It’s to create a space and foundation that helps future jobs run smoother, more efficiently, and with even better quality.

Growth can feel overwhelming when everything seems to happen at once, but sometimes that’s how you know you’re moving forward. I’m incredibly grateful for clients who are understanding through the process and for a family that continues to support me while I build not just projects, but a future. 🛠️🏡

Happy Birthday Jacob Sizemore!

Another year older, another year doing what we love
This year, more than anything, we are grateful — for the work, the people, and the community that continues to support AJS Custom Remodeling.

Choosing local doesn’t just support a business — it supports real people, real families, and skilled tradesmen who bring years (and often multiple trades) of experience to every job. We believe in fair pricing, strong workmanship, and building trust within our community one project at a time.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, shared our name, or trusted us with your home. It truly means more than you know.
Here’s to another year of growing, building, and doing things the right way.

✨ A small change with a big impact ✨
Updating your kitchen backsplash is one of the easiest ways to completely transform your space. It adds color, texture, and personality without the need for a full remodel.
Tile backsplashes also offer a great opportunity to get creative — from clean, classic styles to bold patterns and artistic designs, the right tile can truly make your kitchen stand out.
If you’re ready to refresh your space, a new backsplash is a perfect place to start
