Conveniently located in downtown historic Frederick, MD, we are a close drive from Baltimore, Washington DC and Northern Virginia. Walk-in customers are welcome to visit, browse around our showroom and select their own lumber from the wide selection in our warehouse.

Cash Forge is a blacksmith shop in Charles Town, WV that creates and produces hand-forged crafts, tools, and blades, along with sharing their experience as blacksmiths through classes, workshops, and apprenticeships. M. Cash Mcgee visits us regularly and stocks up on Cocobolo, black and white Ebony, Zericote, Katalox, Snakewood and other knife scale woods to make handles for his amazing knives.

Jeff from JLH Strikers has been a loyal customer of ours for many years. He runs a one product company, and as a result is REALLY good at what he does.

He makes hand turned custom turkey strikers, and they are beautiful. Jeff understands turkey talk, turkey calls and most importantly, wood. Different striker stem materials and top wood densities change the sound profile on the pots. Heavier woods like ebony or rosewood tone down the striker, while the beech is fairly light, so has a crisp, higher pitched tone.

These pairs are made from Gabon Ebony, Bolivian Rosewood and European Beech.

While we do purchase a lot of domestic lumber from big producers, we also like to buy local and support smaller mills wherever possible.

Our truck recently picked up a load in Washington County which included some amazing Ambrosia / wormy Maple, rustic, bark-inclusion Hickory and some beautiful rainbow Poplar.

You don't have to go far for beautiful wood. Curly Maple grows here in the United States, and its wavy figure makes every board a little different from the last. Freshly restocked and ready for your next project.

Some great photos from Robert Roff, showing off an ice boat he built using ash purchased from us! A nice reminder that after all this summer heat, winter will be back before we know it.

"I bought some ash from you about a year and a half ago to make some ice boats. We finished them in time for the great winter we had this past year. The ash was used for the runner plank that holds the two outside runners. These planks were made by laminating two boards together to form a 1" camber over the 5½' plank length."

"The pictures were taken in Red Bank, NJ, last January. We had a nice cold winter, and the Navesink River froze right in front of our ice boat club — we haven't had 'home ice' for many years!"

Just arrived! Check out this pallet of beautiful figured Black and White Ebony ( Diospyros malabarica ), also known as Pale Moon Ebony.

It is a rare exotic from Southeast Asia, and its striking black-and-white contrasting streaks are sought after by luthiers for fingerboards, headplates, drop tops, and bridge blanks. It is also used for knife handles, turned objects, and other ornamental items.

We have it in 2x2 and 3x3 turning squares, and in boards ranging from 5/8” – 1 ¼” thick.
