The Transformation: White to Sherwin-Williams Black Green (Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel)
There is nothing quite like the architectural charm of a French office door, but when it is painted a standard, flat white, it can blend a bit too easily into the background. To give this space a dramatic, sophisticated focal point, DTX Custom Painting gave these classic doors a major upgrade using Sherwin-Williams Black Green (SW 6994) in their premium Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel.
The Vision
The goal was to create contrast while keeping the space feeling timeless and organic. Black Green is the perfect chameleon color—it delivers the deep, grounding weight of a classic black but unearths rich, hunter-green undertones when the light hits it.
The Process
1. Prep & Prep: Every good paint job is 90% prep. We carefully taped off the glass panes, lightly sanded the existing white paint to create a "bite" for the new layer, and wiped away all dust.
2. The First Coat: The initial coat of Black Green immediately changed the energy of the room. Emerald Urethane has fantastic coverage, but dark colors over white always require patience.
3. The Second Coat: After letting the first layer dry completely, the second coat locked in that deep, opaque, luxurious forest-black hue.
The Result
The white doors looked clean, but the Black Green doors look like a custom design choice. The dark frame completely elevates the view through the glass panes, turning the office entry into a stunning visual anchor for the entire hallway.
