C.B. Fisk

C.B. Fisk Designers & Builders Of Pipe Organs Over fifty years ago Charles Brenton Fisk founded our company.

Charlie revived traditional organ building, most notably a return to mechanical (or "tracker") key action. His rich and eclectic musical sensibility left an indelible mark on American organ building and on those of us who proudly continue Charlie's legacy of innovation and thoughtful craftsmanship. We believe that an organ is a means by which a musician brings music to life. Our instruments are most successful when they function acoustically and aesthetically as one with the buildings they live in. We build a precise scale model of each building to ensure that the organ complements the architecture that surrounds it, and take equal care in composing a stop list that meets the musical needs of each client. The final step is the painstaking voicing of the instrument, adjusting each pipe to the acoustics of the room. The task is complex, but the collaboration is exciting and rewarding. Our job includes education and community building, and we join those communities with whom we work as visiting artisans. We are pleased to count as friends the many enthusiastic supporters who turn out to help unload a truck, lift a beam, or just drop by with a question and a few words of encouragement. It is our foremost goal to put our craftsmanship and expertise in the service of the very best musical experiences for audiences, congregations and organists around the world. We look forward to sharing this ideal with you in the creation of a new organ.

With the devastating March fire at the historic Jacques Stinkens Orgelpijpenmakers factory in the Netherlands, we lost our façade pipes for Opus 166, which were preparing to ship. We eventually found a solution with our friends at Taylor & Boody. They stepped up in a big way, offering to help and ultimately making the 16′ polished tin façade pipes - all but the hammered tin side façade! As of last week, those pipes have arrived and been installed ℂ𝕙𝕦𝕣𝕔𝕙 𝕠𝕗 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕃𝕚𝕥𝕥𝕝𝕖 𝔽𝕝𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣 in Coral Gables! 🎉We want to offer a massive thank-you to Taylor and Boody Organbuilders for their willingness to help and collaborate with us, and especially to Erik Boody for coming to Coral Gables and helping with the installation. You guys are the best! We are immensely grateful to have such wonderful relationships with our fellow organbuilders and friends.

Christ Church in Philadelphia - home of Fisk Opus 150. Great to be back for this week’s Organ Historical Society convention.

When we think of Benjamin Franklin, we usually think of electricity, printing presses, or diplomatic strategy. But he was also interested in music. This connection takes center stage tomorrow!

In the 18th century, Franklin organized a lottery in Philadelphia to help fund the steeple and organ gallery for Christ Church -- one of the sites on the schedule for this week's Organ Historical Society convention in Philadelphia. Come join us - see if you can find his pew!

If you're in Philadelphia for , take a moment to look up at the organ gallery at Christ Church—you're standing in a space shaped by one of history's greatest innovators.

Here he is with the Executive Director of the AGO, Cathy Brigham, who will be attending the session at Christ Church.

The voicing continues! From some of the very smallest to the very bigger pipes, we’ve been having a wonderful time the last couple weeks with the mixtures and the Contre Basson for Opus 166. 😁 We’re also looking forward to installing the first of the facade pipes in a couple weeks from now. 🎉

The coupler stack for Opus 170 is ready to go! There are a lot of moving parts that live behind the keyboards, so here’s the inside look!

Photo 2: Fins that turn on/off different couplers, guides to keep all the trackers working nicely, and square rails for when it all goes back to the wind chests!

Photo 3: A lovely little rollerboard to bring the pedal board - which is a bit wider than the coupler stack - into the same scale as everything else. You can also see the backfalls that connect the couplers together!

Photo 4: You can see where the pedal board lines up with the coupler stack! Everything under those levers will go under the floor.

Photo 5: Starting to add the trackers that will go into the backs of the keyboards! You can see where they line up with the coupler backfalls and they go all the way down to the square rails. 😁

Photos 6-7: And two more pictures of the whole thing put together!

Isn’t it lovely? 😁🎉
