We were so lucky to be part of the MSFDA (Minnesota State Fire Department Association) Annual Conference a few weeks ago. It was fun to network with a ton of great people and talk with several interested firefighters about Firefighter Handyman!

A few weeks ago, we shared a look at this deck as we began bringing it back to life. Now, the project is complete.

After power washing, replacing damaged boards, and applying a fresh coat of paint, this deck looks like new again.

It’s amazing what a little maintenance and the right repairs can do. If your deck is looking worn, weathered, or in need of some attention, visit our website for a free estimate.

When we think about the dangers firefighters face, we often picture burning buildings, collapsing structures, and flames, but some of the greatest threats can follow firefighters home and affect them long after the call is over.

Cancer
-Firefighters are exposed to smoke, carcinogens, and toxic chemicals during fires. Cancer is now the leading cause of death among firefighters nationwide, and firefighters have a higher risk of developing cancer than the general population.

-Heart Attacks & Cardiovascular Disease
The combination of heat, intense physical exertion, stress, dehydration, and exposure to toxic substances puts lots of strain on the heart. Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death in the fire service.

-Emotional Trauma
Firefighters routinely witness traumatic events that most people will never experience. Repeated exposure can contribute to PTSD, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, and other mental health challenges.

-Sleep Deprivation & Fatigue
Long shifts, overnight calls, interrupted sleep, and the stress of the job can make it difficult for firefighters to get the rest their bodies need. Fatigue can affect both physical health and mental health.

-Physical Injuries
Firefighters carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, work in awkward positions, and operate in unstable and dangerous environments. Strains, sprains, back injuries, joint injuries, burns, and other physical injuries can have lasting effects.

Our firefighters put their lives on the line for our communities. We should be there for them, too.

We believe one of the best ways to support your local firefighters is by giving to MNFire- Minnesota Fire Fighters Foundation. MNFire provides resources, education, wellness training, peer support, and assistance to help current Minnesota firefighters and their families deal with the unique health risks of the profession.

MnFIRE provides Minnesota's firefighters with the tools they need to prioritize and protect their health. Cardiac, emotional trauma and cancer.

We love it when our amazing clients leave feedback! We’re especially proud to spotlight Adriaan, who brings that same dedication and work ethic to serving the community through FFHMN as an Eden Prairie firefighter.

Whether he’s helping us keep our community safe through the department or working hard for our customers in the rain, Adriaan is someone you can count on to show up and get the job done right. Just ask Lisa about her fence!!

Thank you, Lisa, for taking the time to share your experience—and thank you, Adriaan, for everything you do both on and off the job!

Sometimes you have to tear it apart before you can make it better.

This remodel started with a whole lot of demolition. Paul and Alex got the project about 90% of the way there, then they let Jeff and Curtis have a little fun.

The old flooring is out, the space is cleared, and we're ready for the next phase.

Demo isn't always the most glamorous part of a remodel, but somebody's got to do it—and who better than firefighters?
