Yesterday, the City of Walker, Michigan and Kent District Library cut the ribbon on the new Walker Library. Just under 2,000 visitors walked through the doors on opening day to explore spaces built for discovery, engagement, and community.
At more than 30,000 sf, the new Walker Branch - KDL pairs a renovation of the original library with a new addition. Mayor Gary Carey put it best when he called it a civic living room and a bridge between generations.
Thank you to the City of Walker, KDL, Studio GC, Mathison I Mathison Architects and our local trade partners for the collaboration from start to finish.
And to the library staff who worked out of a temporary location for 19 months: welcome home!
