In collaboration with the owners of Cafe Lift Haddonfield of 13th Street Kitchens, Adorna introduces our newest hospitality project - an adaptive reuse of a historic bank, on its way to becoming a restaurant in the heart of downtown Haddonfield’s commercial district. The design process centers around the unique vision of its restaurateur and partners: preserving the gorgeous architectural details of the building’s past while layering in a contemporary twist that is edgy, eclectic, playful, and maybe a little mischievous - think hot red lipstick on a traditional Italian bistro. We can’t wait to share the progress as it all unfolds!

Introducing our Project. The approach for this first-floor renovation of a young family’s Haddonfield home emphasized open, connected, and personalized spaces. Walls were opened up for visibility and access from the dining room into the kitchen, creating a seamless flow for everyday living and entertaining. The kitchen’s bold finishes and statement details reflect the homeowners’ personal style, while the highly-functional layout also supports their love of cooking and baking together. A cohesive-yet-contrasting and strikingly-moody wet bar for hosting and entertaining adds the elevated focal point of a wallpapered ceiling.

Traditional bones meet a decidedly-contemporary point of view in our project.

This first-floor renovation reimagines the entry sequence for a family that loves to entertain, beginning with a foyer refreshed with statement wallpaper, lighting, and new furnishings - setting the tone for elevated interiors beyond. A once-expansive formal living room was intentionally scaled down into a series of defined areas for living and dining through the use of furniture groupings, millwork details and lighting. Adorna introduced a coffered ceiling and subtle wing walls - beautifully paneled - to anchor the central living area around the fireplace. Each element was designed and curated for a welcoming ambiance, while luminous wallpapers introduce color, pattern, and the appearance of fine art. The adjacent butler’s pantry is now defined by a richly color-drenched palette.

The result is timeless at its foundation, yet distinctly contemporary in spirit, with an unexpected sense of whimsy and glamour.

The Kitchen Beyond the Kitchen
At Adorna, we design the spaces behind the scenes with the same level of intention as the rooms they support. Thoughtfully integrated sculleries, prep kitchens, and back kitchens keep preparation, storage, and cleanup elsewhere, allowing the main kitchen to remain the social heart of the home—where conversation, connection, and everyday life naturally unfold.
