THE VANITY STORY

I met Justin several years ago when I worked for an interior design firm in Bethesda. He did renovation projects and made custom furniture for our clients.

I left that firm and began creating Justin's social media. When the time came for me to do my bathroom renovation, I contacted Justin to create a vanity for me.

I was so excited to draw up the elevations for the piece that he would create for my guest bathroom. When delivery day arrived, I was thrilled to see the vanity that I had drawn and imagined come to life!

My guest bathroom has a subtle nautical feel, and this vanity in admiral blue, is the highlight of the nautical theme. The color, along with the slatted shelf and polished chrome hardware bring that subtle nautical feel to the space.

After working with Justin for many years and admiring the pieces he has made and the spaces he has created, I am thrilled to finally have one of his one of a kind pieces in my own home. It is a pleasure to promote a company like Wigfield Custom Renovations. I truly admire the work he does and would encourage anyone to hire him for their renovation projects!

Site protection may not be the most exciting part of a renovation, but it may be the most important.

Protecting your floors, controlling dust, securing pathways, and preserving existing finishes reflects a commitment to quality, professionalism, and respect for your home.

Great projects start with protection.

Dropping a concrete ceiling by about 4 inches is essentially creating a new, shallow cavity below the structural slab so you can recess lighting that otherwise couldn’t be installed directly into concrete. The key idea: you’re building a minimal-depth dropped ceiling system that hides wiring, junction boxes, and low‑profile fixtures while keeping the ceiling as high as possible.

Benefits of dropping the ceiling

Allows recessed lighting in spaces where concrete prevents direct installation

Creates a cleaner, more modern look compared to surface-mounted fixtures

Provides a hidden zone for wiring, drivers, and small transformers

Improves acoustic performance if insulation is added

Allows future flexibility for additional lighting or speakers

A dovetail joint is a classic woodworking connection where wedge‑shaped tails on one board interlock with matching pins on another, creating a mechanical lock that resists being pulled apart.
