Did you know we keep a curation of vintage and antique pieces for our projects? These items are typically reserved for our clients and the local LA design community, but after the wonderful response to our April studio sale, we're opening up our inventory once again.

Browse our inventory account and DM us there to arrange a viewing at our Pasadena studio through November 24th.

When the clients purchased this home, there wasn’t a true primary ensuite. The bedroom they used sat next to a small hall bath that was also accessible by visitors from the main hall, with a single vanity, a cramped tub, mismatched transom windows, and a door that swung into the room, eating up what little space there was. Meanwhile, the bedroom door opened directly off the home’s main entry, so the layout felt even more exposed and awkward. [See

By relying on smart, strategic spatial planning (removing a window and two doors) we were able to keep construction at a minimum while enjoying significant improvements in floorplan. We moved the door into the bedroom from the entry to a more private hallway, creating a small vestibule that also pulled the bathroom access into their bedroom. We replaced the two original doors into the bathroom (from the main hall and from the bedroom) with a single pocket door accessible only from their bedroom. An unnecessary transom window was also removed to reclaim usable wall space.

Within the same footprint, we were able to incorporate a freestanding soaking tub with rain head shower, a generous custom marble double vanity with his/hers sitting areas and storage, and a much more spatious floor plan.

The result is a true en suite that feels luxurious, private, and considered, all without adding square footage.

We're lucky to have a roster of mostly repeat clients who we've known for years. Sometimes they move and we get to work on multiple homes, but sometimes we return to help with the evolution of their existing spaces. This precious Spanish house was featured in magazine a couple of years ago and we recently returned to give their primary ensuite a nice little transformation.

---
This bedroom is part of a 1920s Spanish bungalow we worked on in Pasadena. While the rest of the house embraces a more layered, collected look from the clients’ travels, we approached the refresh of this room differently.

When we started the project 9 years ago, they already had sconces, nightstands, and some art on the walls. We added custom linen drapery, a custom olive velvet bed and the first of a few antique rugs in their home to pull it all together. It was striking, but this time around, the clients wanted a more serene vibe to suit their busy lifestyle. Home would be a retreat from their constant globetrotting.

We worked with to create a new custom bed in a soothing oatmeal textile and pared down the art so the walls had more room to breathe. Every new piece was selected to work in harmony so as not to overpower the space: the Japanese vintage flush mount, a pair of French Deco bamboo lamps, an armless Bombolé chair upholstered in House of Hackney (to still retain a bit of punch in the space), and a vintage Hans Wegner table were all collectible finds the clients loved almost immediately.

What I love most is that while the rest of the house is more maximalist, it has remained timeless enough that this current update still fits beautifully into the larger story.

Some rooms are designed to look perfect. The best ones are designed to be lived in.

Books on the shelves, toys tucked into corners, art that means something, a well-loved leather sofa and a piano waiting to be played. I love a space that feels collected and shows signs of real life.
