Before anything else, all glory belongs to Jesus Christ. He made the water that fills this pool 💧 and provided the resources from which our building materials are made. Every ability we have and every opportunity to work is a gift from Him.
This 40-year-old pool and deck just received a beautiful facelift, and we’re grateful for how it turned out!
There is a lot more to a beautiful pool finish than what you see once the water goes in. Behind that finished surface is a carefully timed process requiring experience, patience, and attention to detail.
From the scratch coat and lay-on to straightening the mud and slick troweling, every step matters. The final troweling stage is the hard troweling, closing the pores and refining the surface.
Then comes the carefully timed aggregate exposure. During troweling, fine Portland cement paste is brought to the surface, leaving a thin layer commonly called “cream” over the aggregate. We carefully remove that remaining cement film to reveal the aggregate’s color and texture. The finish must be firm enough to hold the aggregate securely while still allowing that surface paste to be removed evenly.
It takes experience, a careful touch, and close attention to how the material is setting. Every stage has its window, and every step must follow the finish manufacturer’s instructions.
You don’t simply come back the next morning with a trowel and smooth away yesterday’s hardened ridges or imperfections. That work has to happen during application, while the material is workable. Once that window closes, correcting mistakes becomes an entirely different job.
Timing matters. Following the instructions matters. What we do while that window is open matters.
And that brings us to something far more important than a swimming pool.
Our lives have a window, too.
We make plans for tomorrow as though tomorrow is guaranteed. We put off repentance, put off seeking God, and tell ourselves we’ll get serious about eternity another day. But none of us knows when our final day will come.
God has given us His Word. He has told us the way of salvation. The opinions of this world cannot rewrite what He has spoken.
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27
After we take our last breath on this side of eternity, there is no going back to relive this life. No redo. No reclaiming the days we assumed would always be there.
But today, you can turn to Him.
Your soul matters to God. Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead. He sits at the right hand of the Father and lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Him.
Even the angels are described in Hebrews 1:14 as ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. Think about that. God has not treated your salvation lightly. Neither should you.
Many people offer opinions about eternity. Jesus conquered the grave.
He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
Turn from sin and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. You cannot earn salvation through good workmanship or good deeds. It is God’s gift of grace, received through faith in the Savior who calls us to follow Him.
We’re thankful to give this old pool a fresh start. But only Jesus can give you new life.
Don’t take tomorrow for granted. Come to Him today.
