In honor of Architecture Month, we're taking a trip down memory lane to 2013, when the BWA team was on-site during the construction of One Ala Moana!

Serving as the Architect of Record for the project, BWA played an important role in bringing this residential development to life.

More than a decade later, One Ala Moana remains a recognizable part of Honolulu's skyline and a reminder of the collaboration and expertise that go into shaping our built environment.

It’s all in the details. 🔍

Designing in Hawaii means considering how a space responds to its surrounding environment. Covered walkways, generous overhangs, and open transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces provide shade and shelter while embracing Hawaii’s natural light and open-air lifestyle.

At BWA, thoughtful design brings together form and function to create spaces that feel connected to their surroundings and reflective of a sense of place.

From concept to reality. ✏️

See the vision for Makalae at Sea Country take shape, from early design sketches and drawings to the completed project.

Located in Waianae, Makalae at Sea Country is a residential community designed by BWA, featuring a variety of home designs that create a distinct yet cohesive neighborhood character.

It’s always rewarding to look back at where a project started and see the vision brought to life!

Anaha is well known in Ward Village for its iconic glass-bottom pool, but the view from above is just as impressive! ✨

Check out this aerial shot of Anaha at Ward Village, developed by Howard Hughes Corporation and designed by SCB (Solomon Cordwell Buenz). BWA provided construction administration services for the high-rise project, completed in 2017.

A closer look at our latest project for Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus. 🌿

The architectural design of two open-air pavilions, one adjacent to the school gymnasium and the other to the locker room building, provides welcoming spaces for gathering, learning, and community. Thoughtful material selections and natural ventilation create spaces that support everyday campus life.

Here's some exciting news!

BWA recently had the opportunity to attend the project kick-off blessing for the Kahuina (Block C) project alongside the many partners, consultants, and team members helping bring this project to life.

We're excited to see this project come to life and look forward to watching its progress. Mahalo to Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company for sharing the photo!

At the Hawaii Community College Pālamanui Campus, BWA designed the outdoor pavilion to create comfortable gathering spaces for students, faculty, and visitors. The custom screening panels cast dynamic patterns of light and shadow throughout the day, turning a functional feature into one of our favorite design details.
