OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS, TEND TO THE FIRE.
I cannot stress this enough, it is imperative that you tend to the fire.
Keep it burning.
Pray like you have never prayed before.
Get in the Word.
Shut out the noise and go deeper with God than you ever have before.
Do not allow yourself to become distracted, spiritually complacent, or comfortable with a level of intimacy that God is calling you to go beyond.
As I was praying, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “shaking imminent.”
And I saw in the spirit the earth being shaken.
Then I saw a calendar, and the year on it was 2027.
I want to be careful with what I share, because I am not a doomsdayer, nor am I interested in stirring fear or making claims that God has not given me permission to make.
But I cannot shake the urgency I feel concerning the need for God's people to prepare themselves spiritually.
I believe this is a time to become deeply rooted in the Lord, to strengthen our foundations, and to cultivate a life of prayer that cannot be easily shaken by what happens around us.
The time to prepare your lamp is not when the midnight cry is already sounding, the time to prepare is now.
In Matthew 25, Jesus tells the parable of the ten virgins.
All ten had lamps, but not all ten had oil in reserve.
All ten were waiting for the bridegroom, but only five had prepared for the delay.
There is a difference between having enough oil to look prepared in a moment and having oil in reserve to endure when the waiting gets longer than you anticipated.
We cannot live on yesterday's encounter.
We cannot survive on the strength of someone else's prayer life.
We cannot continually draw from a place of intimacy with God that we are no longer cultivating in secret.
There must be oil in the lamp, but there must also be oil in reserve!
If you have allowed the cares of this world to crowd out your hunger for God, begin making room for Him again.
Leviticus 6:12–13 tells us that the fire on the altar was to be kept burning continually. The priests were responsible for tending to it. They had to add wood, arrange the burnt offering, and remove the ashes.
The fire had to be maintained.
You cannot assume that because the fire burned yesterday, you do not have to tend to it today.
You cannot live off the memory of a past move of God while neglecting the altar in front of you.
There is a daily responsibility to cultivate your relationship with the Lord.
Add the wood of prayer.
Add the wood of worship.
Add the wood of obedience.
Add the wood of the Word.
Deal with the ashes of yesterday's disappointments, offenses, distractions, and disappointments that have accumulated around your altar.
Do not allow yesterday's ashes to suffocate today's fire.
Tend to the fire!
We must come out of spiritual complacency.
Lukewarmness will not serve us well in an hour that demands spiritual discernment, endurance, and unwavering faithfulness to Jesus Christ.
We cannot afford to be a people who are on fire during a church service but spiritually asleep the rest of the week.
We cannot afford to know how to shout in the sanctuary but have no prayer life in the secret place.
God is not simply looking for a people who know how to produce a moment, He is looking for a people who know how to remain with Him when
the moment is over.
Hebrews 12:27–28 speaks of the removal of things that can be shaken so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
And then the writer tells us to receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken and to serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
Our confidence is not in our ability to predict what is coming, our confidence is in the unshakable Kingdom of God!
So, if there is ever a time to deepen your roots, it is now.
If there is ever a time to strengthen your prayer life, it is now.
If there is ever a time to know the Word for yourself, it is now.
If there is ever a time to become intimately acquainted with the voice of the Holy Spirit, it is now.
Do not wait until the shaking begins to discover that your foundation needs strengthening.
Do not wait until the storm comes to learn how to stand.
Do not wait until the midnight hour to discover that you have neglected your oil.
Over the next several months, tend to the fire.
Get up early and pray.
Stay a little longer in His presence.
Open your Bible when nobody is watching.
Fast when the Holy Spirit leads you.
Obey the Lord even when obedience costs you something.
Repent quickly.
Forgive freely.
Guard your heart.
Pursue holiness.
Keep your heart tender toward the things of God.
And above all, keep your eyes on Jesus.
Scripture continually calls us to watchfulness, readiness, perseverance, and faithfulness.
We do not need to know everything tomorrow holds to obey what God is asking of us today.
The call is not to panic, the call is to prepare.
The call is not to live in fear of the shaking, the call is to become so rooted in Christ that we remain faithful through it.
It is time to go deeper than you have ever gone.
Deeper into Jesus.
Deeper into His Word.
Deeper into prayer.
Deeper into consecration.
Deeper into the kind of relationship with God that does not collapse when circumstances change.
I believe this is a time to get serious about the condition of our altars.
Not out of fear of what may come, but out of a holy reverence for the One we serve.
Church, may we be found burning.
Not smoldering.
Not flickering.
Not surviving on the embers of yesterday's encounters.
But burning with a holy, unquenchable passion for Jesus Christ.
Whatever 2027 holds, may we not be a people scrambling to find our footing when the shaking comes, may we be a people who are already firmly established in Christ.
