The most underrated upgrade in lighting design isn’t a fixture. It’s the dimmer. 💡

As the days get shorter and the evenings turn cozier, the ability to adjust a room’s light changes everything. The same chandelier can be bright and functional at 6 p.m. and soft and glowing by dinner. When you’re hosting, a lower setting makes the whole room feel warmer and more inviting.

One thing to know: dimmers, bulbs, and fixtures all have to work together. Use dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible dimmer, or you’ll get flickering or buzzing. It’s much easier to get right when it’s part of the plan from the start.

A fireplace isn’t the only way to make a room feel cozy.

When it gets cold out, we all want the same thing: a room that feels warm the second you walk in. A fireplace helps, but it’s not the only thing doing the work. 🕯️

This room gets there with the details. The warm neutrals, the natural wood beams, and a floor lamp tucked in the corner each add to it. Then there’s the by , hung low over the seating area. It’s 63" wide, with slender wrought iron arms that curve out and candle-style bulbs that give off a soft, flickering kind of glow.

I could sit in this room for hours.
