Details matter. Every pattern. Every border. Every careful touch.

Refinishing a floor like this means giving every detail the attention it deserves. Our team is bringing renewed life to this intricate wood floor while preserving the craftsmanship that makes it special.

At Schenck & Company, we take pride in caring for beautiful floors—so they can be admired for years to come.

To create the aesthetic of a floor with a significant history, Schenck & Company craftsmen varied the thickness of the planks throughout this attractive, high-rise residence. Multiple coats of burnished sealer oil give the aged texture a warm, natural patina. The same white oak is used throughout the home, though in the kitchen and formal living area, it’s configured in a more traditional, herringbone pattern.

End-grain walnut blocks were laid at an angle in this oversized living room to produce a striking, brick-like pattern. The edges of each block were hand-beveled and the entire floor was burnished to a soft, furniture finish.

If every room tells a story, the floor is the introduction. In this writing alcove, the tale is one of old-world intrigue. The dark walnut wood has been laid in a traditional European pattern, then topped with multiple coats of oil sealer and burnished to a lustrous, golden finish. It’s an elegant narrative of richness and romance.

The owners of this welcoming home requested a floor to complement the character of the hand-hewn, reclaimed beams. Wide walnut planks, hand-scraped by our own craftsmen, provide a timelessness that relates to the ceiling and to the natural beauty of the landscape.

The wood for this charming floor was reclaimed in Europe, then refitted into a chevron pattern on site. After a light sanding, the floor was washed with multiple layers of a pastel-colored oil for a serene but sophisticated look.
