Creating a more connected city starts with making it easier and safer for people to walk, bike, and spend time outdoors.

As part of a comprehensive planning effort for the City of Austin, Asakura Robinson helped update three key plans: the Urban Trails Plan, Sidewalks Plan, and Bikeways Plan.๐Ÿšฒ๐ŸŒณ

Together, these plans established a vision for a more connected, accessible, and equitable active transportation network, linking neighborhoods with schools, shopping centers, parks, and other important destinations. The effort also identified opportunities to improve sidewalks, crosswalks, and other pedestrian infrastructure, helping create a safer and more seamless experience for people traveling throughout the city.

Who We Are - At Asakura Robinson, we think about how landscapes can connect people to places, support healthy ecosystems, and create spaces that serve the communities around them. From restoring native landscapes to creating spaces for gathering, reflection, and connection, our work brings together people, culture, and the environment through thoughtful design.

National Night Out took place on October 6, 2026, and AR was proud to join communities across our project areas for an evening of connection, conversation, and community spirit.

Our team members had the opportunity to attend local National Night Out events, not only to share updates on current and upcoming projects, but also to listen, connect with residents, and learn more about the communities weโ€™re proud to be part of.

๐Ÿ“Five Corners- Wei, Jennifer, and Rickie participated in the National Night Out event hosted by the Five Corners District. The team engaged with local residents, shared information about the upcoming monument.

๐Ÿ“Westchase District -Sasha, Ed, and Hannah connected with neighbors and community members during the National Night Out event in the Westchase District. The team facilitated a mapping activity to gather community insights and perspectives that will help inform the districtโ€™s long-range planning efforts.

Thank you to the organizers, residents, and community partners who welcomed our team!๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿง’โ€๐Ÿง’

Along with Walter P Moore transformed Almeda Road into a more connected, resilient, and sustainable Houston corridor.

Through landscape architecture and planning, the project integrated green infrastructure, stormwater management, pedestrian and bicycle connections, and expanded green space, demonstrating how thoughtful design can enhance both mobility and quality of life.๐Ÿš—๐ŸŒณ

Last Friday, Asakura Robinson had the pleasure of participating in Park(ing) Day alongside Texas ASLA-Houston/Gulf Coast Section !

We transformed a typical Houston parking space into a geodesic dome a shaded, inviting space where people could gather, enjoy the breeze, and experience Houstonโ€™s outdoor environment in a new way. ๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒฑ

What started as a simple idea became a thoughtful design challenge from concept to installation. Each triangle of the dome featured imagery highlighting the principles of One Health, creating an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the connection between people, animals, and the environment.๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿง๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Park(ing) Day reminded us that even a small space can spark meaningful conversations about how we design and experience our cities.

The prototype of tomorrow is the way we approach today๐Ÿ’—

Even native plants need water during establishment and may require supplemental water during extreme Houston heat or drought. The goal should be to design the landscape to store and use rainfall rather than depend on permanent irrigation.
When applying the strategies above, The result is more than a low-water landscape.

It is a living water-management system:

This is a practical application of One Healthโ€”designing landscapes that improve human health, ecological health, water resilience, and biodiversity together.

Our founder, Keiji, recently visited a neighborhood park in Setagaya that offered a powerful reminder: some of the best-designed spaces are the ones that let nature lead.

Watching children climb trees, build with sticks, explore freely, and connect with the landscape sparked an important question for us as landscape architects and urban designers:

At our firm, we believe great public spaces do more than meet standards; they inspire curiosity, resilience, creativity, and a lifelong connection to nature. Sometimes the most meaningful design isnโ€™t about adding more, but allowing nature to do what it does best.
