Happening today - a news conference on a large drug bust of unprocessed psilocybin worth between 2 and 4 million dollars.

I was tipped off on this yesterday but law enforcement asked me not to share at that time for officer's safety.

IMPD now confirms the following:

IMPD drug enforcement detectives, the DEA, ISP and Beech Grove Police arrested two men in connection to fatal overdose this year.

They tell us detectives worked diligently not only to identify and arrest the suspected dealer, but also to identify the origin and supply chain of the drugs.

Here is a look at what was confiscated during the raids:

• 3 AR pistols
• 2 AR ri**es
• $9,500
• 2 forfeited cars
• 1,500+lbs unprocessed psilocybin (mushrooms)
Valued between $2.1-4.2 million
• 25lbs of dried cultivated psilocybin (mushrooms)
• 66lbs of psilocybin (mushroom) edibles
• 277lbs of liquid psilocybin (mushroom) drinks
• 6lbs of ma*****na
• 100s of pressed counterfeit pills (X, ecstasy, Molly)

There is a news conference today at 1:30 where we will learn more about the suspects and the overdose death.

🚨BREAKING: Former USPS worker pleaded guilty to stealing $34 million in mailed checks while on her route.

Destinee Ruffin, 29, a former United States Postal Service (USPS) employee, pleaded guilty to stealing and depositing mailed checks.

Ruffin took the stolen checks and sold them to co-conspirators, who then deposited them or created counterfeit checks and sold them online.

Federal investigators caught Ruffin by tracing stolen Treasury checks with recorded serial numbers to her Indianapolis route.

Federal agents searched Ruffin’s house and found over 6,000 pieces of mail totaling almost $20 million in unsold checks, and believe she sold almost $12 million in checks to co-conspirator John Young.

The United States Attorney’s Office says that it estimates almost 6,500 victims were affected by this widespread fraud scheme.

This week these two officers did a traffic stop, during the stop of violating a red light, the driver expressed she was in a hurry to get the children in the car to school.

When the officers asked her, what school do they attend.

She could not give a good answer.
They escorted her from the car and questioned the child, simply to the eldest child, age 10, "do u know this woman?"

The 10 year old shook his head, No! at that point the driver was arrested.
It was later determined she had kidnapped the children on their way to school.

Four children ages 10 to 6 were forced into the vehicle.

These 2 officers exercised excellent police investigate skills, in doing so they were able to take a kidnapper of the streets, and safeguard the 4 children from any hurt, harm and danger.

Outstanding work to Officers Flannel and Parrish, two of the hard workers in the Eighth Precinct.
