WOW, what an incredible 11 day adventure I’ve been on.
Last week was the American Royal World Series of Barbecue.
This week I was invited by my friends Bull in the Ring BBQ to join them at Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational BBQ. I couldn’t say no to this iconic event.
They trusted me with the Cook’s Choice category where I prepared 7 plates of sliced New York strip steaks and chimichuri plus scallops.
I underestimated the timing - not quite what I wanted but Sam Dodson and I made it with 30 seconds to spare. Amazing how fast 2 short fat guys can move in the rain with a large tray! LOL. Flavor was fantastic - finished 28th
It was different for me to be the extra set of hands, but I chipped in where I could. Sam and Whitney produced some good food - I won’t steal their thunder but 20th Overall out of 92 teams isn’t anything to be ashamed of!
Desserts - holy cow! The Jack makes the Royal look tame in this category! Whitney’s high end platter was Fantastic! Hats off to her and all the creative people!
I was able to see a lot of friends, make new ones. See the success of a lot of my international teams - hurricanes can’t stop this kind of fun!

One more work trip this week then my body gets a much needed rest before the Crooked Bum Convoy to Vegas in November!
