Some Nepenthes sure do look funny as they are forming new traps. I tend to think the tall collared species like zakriana, dactylifera, and this mollis look the most strange. I happened to catch these three traps displaying the "stages" of pitchers from their goofy formation to the eventual browning from top to bottom. Observing this cycle is probably THE most appealing part of growing these plants, especially when you are rewarded with incrementally larger and more stunning traps over time.

Several of our N. bongso seed grown plants are starting to vine in earnest! We already know we have at least one female, so we're hoping to produce some horticultural seed in the next year or so. These have been exceptional plants already, so I'm sure their offspring will be fantastic!

It's always nice to find a pitcher that's hidden away from view. Especially when said pitcher is an absolutely amazing N. villosa trap that knocks your socks off! I must be doing something right because the last trap was only about an inch or so. What a jump!

Finally got my hands on a good-looking N. ampullaria from Atif Hussein the other day. This is a (purple stripe SG x 'Black Miracle') originally from Carnivero and it's giving some real "Shai-Hulud" vibes, wouldn't you say? Can't wait to see a whole carpet of these awesome pitchers.

Check out this tubby boy looking moisturized and unbothered in the greenhouse. Made himself right at home in someone else's pot! N. sibuyanensis x merrilliana is THE cross to have in any collection. You get fantastic pitchers that are just brilliantly colored every time. We've got another nice batch of these that are just about ready, and already over 6 inches this time!

Got to work on a very special plant today. We recently obtained this amazing N. eymae from Botanique, and she was definitely due for a repot. This is apparently an old clone from Ray Triplitt and appears to be true to our eyes! I tried to get really good close-up views of the bizarre lid this species is known for, and check out that old tag from when it used to be called N. infundibuliformis! I also tried to get a picture of the THICK base of this plant. Probably about 3" across! It's an honor, if not a little surreal, to repot a plant that's older than you are!

Time to generate some excitement for the upcoming [MACPS] Mid-Atlantic Carnivorous Plant Society] Mid-Atlantic Carnivorous Plant Society Carnivorous Plant Show! We'll be bringing an array of large Heliamphora that are a little too big to ship, like the incredible H. "Godzilla" and the neon H. macdonaldae! These will be exclusively available at the show on October 17th. Of course, we'll also have tons of rare Nepenthes, too! Make sure to come by and see us bright and early!

A quick post today of this really exceptional N. zakriana we picked out from Botanique. Rob grew out several of these from seed, and they had quite the variety of traits, but this stood out to me due to the overall vibrant coloration on an otherwise typically "dusky" species. The soft gradient of the peristome is quite lovely as well. Can't wait to see the uppers!
