Garden Ponds Nursery Hurricane Lowell Recovery Update
September 24, 2026
Aloha from Garden Ponds Nursery,
It has been a long couple of weeks since Hurricane Lowell came through Kauaʻi, and we want to thank our customers and community for your patience, concern, and aloha as we work our way through the recovery.
We are not fully open yet
Garden Ponds sustained storm damage, and we are still working through cleanup, repairs, and the process of getting the nursery back into safe working order. Because there is still significant recovery happening throughout our community, we are taking things one step at a time.
We do not have a firm reopening date yet. We will let you know as soon as we are ready to safely welcome customers back.
We know many of you are eager to get back to your gardens, ponds, waterlilies, and fish, and we appreciate your understanding while we get things back in shape.
Our waterlilies are resilient
One of the remarkable things about water gardens is their ability to recover. Our plants have been through plenty of challenging weather over the past 30 years of growing waterlilies on Kauaʻi, and we are working to assess, clean, prune, and restore our plants as conditions allow.
For now, our priority is making sure the nursery itself is safe and functional before we resume normal customer service.
We are also helping our community recover
Like many Kauaʻi businesses, we are balancing our own recovery with the needs of our neighbors. Farmers, ranchers, gardeners, homeowners, and small businesses across the island are still dealing with storm damage, debris, power and water issues, damaged infrastructure, and the enormous task of putting things back together.
We are doing our part where we can and will continue sharing useful recovery information and resources with the community.
Kauaʻi County reports that recovery efforts are continuing islandwide. As of September 23, KIUC reported that 98% of members had power restored, while crews continued working on remaining outages, particularly in the North Shore communities. Some roads, parks, facilities, and water systems also remain affected.
We appreciate your patience while we clean up, assess what we have, and rebuild our ability to serve you.
We will post updates here and on our social media as we make progress. Please check before making a special trip to the nursery, as our hours and availability may change while recovery continues.
We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Mahalo for supporting our small family business — and for helping our Kauaʻi community recover together.
